I'm finaly living in my own appartment! I'm now ready to receive couchsurfers in my livingroom. Two persons can use the Futon and two others can use the floor. I have blankets for the futton but you should bring your stuff is the floor interest you.

I'm located near the university (where I study and work part-time). My place is really goiing on public transportation. Due to the ammount of federal office workers almost every busses go to Ottawa. I'm living alone and have no pet. I don't smoke but smokers can use the balcony. I go to bed around 1AM. The best time is on weekend cuz i'm working monday thru friday, but you can come whenever you want.

I'll be glad to show people around I'm studiing in regional development so I know a lot about the region.

Personal Description

I've graduated (BA) in sociology and international development. I've been volonteering in this field for about a decade. I've been part of three international dev. projects. First, I went to Peru in 2000 to live with the people and to interact in their everyday life. We were involved in an initial college (3-5 y.o.) and afterward we spent a month in a small vilage of rice growers. I went back the following year (2001) to with another group. In the 2004 summer, I went to Dominican Republic on a new project. We built homes for inhabitants of a small vilage in the montains. We also worked in a school.

I've also been on a administration board of an international dev. NGO in my hometown of Sherbrooke for a year.

I'm part of the amnesty international group of my university since 2002.

I'm living in Gatineau for five years. Gatineau is just a rockthrow of Ottawa, the Canada's capital. It's a very interesting region: two cities facing eachother, two cultures, two languages, two provinces. People still cross the river everyday to go to work. As the Capital, the region have a lot of federal offices.

I'm now studying in a master program in regional devlopment. After that, I wish to go aboard for a few months/years working for an international dev. agency or NGO. On the long term, I would like to work back here for an NGO.

CouchSurfing Experience

On my last trip to Spain (summer 2005) I had my first experience with couchsurfing. I spent three night at Jon's house in Denia (Costa blanca). It was a good experience, I'm looking foward to meet new couchsurfer.

Although I've passed numerous nights on personals friends couches.

Interests

I think what I enjoy the most is traveling and I don't get to do it as often as I want. I like being elsewhere, to see things for the first time, the dizziness you feel when you get to a place for the first time. Then I enjoy to blend with the locals, to start to understand the new place you're in, to understand how's everything is organized around you.

Other than, I'm interested in...

Philosophy

My favorite personnal motto is "Tout finit toujours par s'arranger" it could be traduced to "Everything get to be fixed" it could be understood as "Every problem has it's solution"

Music, Movies, Books

Movies: I really like movies here is a quick and non exhaustive of my favorites:

The Shawshank Redemption

The Godfather 1 and 2

The Lord of the rings

Kill Bill

L'auberge espagnole

Gattaca

The Shindler's list

this list can goes on forever

Music:

I don't listen as much music as movies but I do prefer Pop, Classic Rock, Spanish and Latin, Alternative, etc.

Books:

As a university student, most of my readings are academics but my favorite novel author is Bernard Werber (a french author). My favorite style is saga and adventure.

One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Done

I think the most amazing thing I've done in my life was riding a camel and sleeping a night in Saharra desert. (Morocco, july 2005)

I was on a low-budget and hesitated on spending a 100$ on this but it really worthed it. I would've regreted it if i've decided otherwise.

A great man.
