Groups I Belong ToCouch Information
Couch Available: Maybe Preferred Gender: Any Max Surfers Per Night: 3
Shared Sleeping Surface: No Shared Room: Depends
Status:
I'm hosting or away all of November and most of December. I definitely do not host from a while before Christmas into January.
The Actual Couch:
I live in a pretty good location - 28th and 5th in Manhattan. There are stops on most of the major subway lines within a few blocks of my house. I have a full couch, a love-seat for shorter people, and a really comfy chair/ottoman for the really short :-) If you're insanely lucky I have an extra bedroom. There's wireless internet access if you need it. Sorry, I live in a non-smoking apartment - but I have a huge terrace where it's OK. The maximum stay is 3 nights.Disclaimer:
I tend to party a bit hard, that often entails bringing the party home, if you're looking for a quiet time, then chances are you won't find it at my house. Also I'm sometimes a little slow to respond; I'm sorry, my life is busy. I get far more requests per day than I could possibly handle... This sadly means you're chances of being hosted are slim to none. However, since my life is so unpredictable, 90% of the people that I do host are last minute requests. At the very earliest I might be able to respond two weeks in advance, usually you'll get a response one week in advance. Don't ask me more than three weeks in advance.
You Should:
Have a complete profile, put a picture or two, say something about yourself. I'm welcoming you to my house, in many ways it's a job interview, your profile is your resume, and your request is the cover letter. I don't particularly care about references or friends, just show that you care enough about your hosts to say who you are. I'm a bachelor, a single guy, I try to keep the place clean and succeed. If my apartment is even cleaner while you're here then I might just adopt you :-) So just keep your stuff in one corner, clean it up before leaving for the day, and if you see dirty dishes - put them in the dishwasher ;-)

Personal DescriptionI'm a traveler - I just happen to work between my traveling. I am also a cheesy tourist - I have a camera in my pocket or around my neck - even when I'm home. I work an awful lot, and enjoy it. I am originally from West Virginia, but moved to upstate New York where I worked for years on the Lake George waterfront. My life is pretty much all about unplanned relaxing, I work tons, but I'm something of an expert at not working ;-)How I Participate in CS2My goal with every guest, be it a surfer, a friend, or both is to have them feel at home, consequentially I have friends that now plan parties at my house and invite me :-) I attend many of the events posted in the NYC Couch Surfing Group. New York City Couch SurfingCouchSurfing ExperienceI've officially couch surfed only a few times, but have on countless occasions met strangers and stayed at their homes :-) There's a large and growing group of wonderful people that have experienced New York from my apartments. InterestsPeople, places, food - eating and cooking, etc.. The world. I've had(have) way too many hobbies to list, so I'll stop. My favorite hobby is making fun of Nicky Pallas :-) Sparking my interest is simple, keeping me interested is an accomplishment. Traveling is my ambition, nothing else sparks and retains my interest as much as discovering a new place... Part of my motivation for working is to enable my exploration of the world. My life is a lot of fun...PhilosophyRelax, have fun, eat good food, see the world. The order can change but the message stays the same. Life is so much richer if you mix in good friends and good food, so make sure you have plenty of both :-)Music, Movies, BooksI read a lot... I continuously listen to music, at home, at work, going to work - you get the idea - from classical to disappointingly enough popular music.
I rely on Project Gutenberg for all my books...
Bill Murray in the Man Who Knew Too Little was a pure genius. I just like watching Forrest Gump.Types of People I enjoyPretty much everyone - the overly trendy sometimes annoy me. I have a special place in my heart for people who are open minded about life.
The people I find most intelligent are the ones that agree with me(and for all of you literal minded people out there - that was a joke(kidding on the square if you will)).Teach, Learn, ShareTeach:
Get over planning - go to therapy if you have to - but once you learn to just go with it, you'll have a much better experience. Just show up and let things work out on the spot. I've stayed in balcony apartments with amazing views all over the world (by chance) just because I never planned. I've had countless adventures because I never had a schedule to stick to, and I've lived a much richer life. So stop the planning :-)

I think what I would like people to really "get" is that giving without any expectation or gain is right. I let people stay with me, in my home, and I don't expect anything from them. It has nothing to do with Karma, or self satisfaction, really it's just part of being human. Ask and expect nothing for giving something and you'll always be happy with what you give and receive from people and the world. One Amazing Thing I've Seen or DoneChoosing one experience is impossible, the little ones that make me look at my life and smile are what matters, beauty always stands out though so Skydiving over the Alps, sunset over Santorini, Trümmelbach Falls, the Taj...

From SaucissedeToulouse Paris, France Nov 30 Positive He is a drunk and my virtual host in NYC. 2 reasons to love him.
From CORREGIDOR Zurich, Switzerland Nov 14 Positive well...
While it is difficult, finding new words to describe how kind Seth is, I didn't need much time to figure that out when meeting him. The moment we met was actually hilarious. When he woke up he was quite surprised… ;-) We will never forget. He wasn't only able to compete with the rare chocolate we brought from switzerland with a bacon chocolate (!!) but also opened his house to us while he was very busy and exhausted from work. He introduced us to a crazy cool bunch of other CSers and took us on one of the coolest walks through NY at Night. Next time I am in NY I hope that I have the chance to spend more time with him.
From Dwayne Menezes Portsmouth, United Kingdom Nov 14 Positive Seth is obviously one of the biggest assets to CS, and his help with the whole Couch Crash festival was in no way insignificant. It was a pleasure getting to know him, although we didn't really have the chance to speak much. I do hope that I shall meet him when I return to NYC, or if he ever visits London or Mumbai. You're very welcome, Seth!
From Raquel del Río Barcelona, Spain Nov 1 Positive I was Mia Wallace. He was the coke I was looking for.. the perfect couple! hahaha
Seth is a really nice person and knows how to make you feel comfortable. I hope to see him more times while I'm in NYC!
I'll never forget the Halloween massage ;)
From BORN to TRAVEL New Territories East, China Oct 27 Positive Does this guy need anymore references?!!!(:
seth was ever so kind to host me and my little angel for 5 nights in his new york apt, though i ended up having a real sweet set-up,couch-hopping between his place and another surfer in queens! it was fun! seth is super nice guy..kind, generous, helpful, gentle, totally down to earth.. what can i say..no better than him to represent the CS community and what it truly stands for.
and i might just take you up on that offer in Philly seth...!(:
From JOEY REYES Sherman Oaks, United States Oct 15 Positive I was told of Seth having a CS party by my buddy Caspar & Ashley.
We strolled on over & we were warmly greeted by Seth.
He has a great place w/a spectacular view of the Empire State building.
He was BBQ'ing & had refreshments on hand.
Truly a top notch guy in my book!
From Stephanie Stefanski Passau, Germany Oct 11 Positive Me and my friend Judith crashed on Seth's couch for a whole week. We had a blast since there's always someone around and Seth is fun to hang out with. We were more than just lucky to have him as our first cs host ever. I hope he'll come and visit us in Germany on one of his Euope trips. He's always welcome. Even if it's just for a drink ;)
From Judith Mantel Passau, Germany Oct 11 Positive Me and my friend Steph had the pleasure to have Seth as our first CS host.
He didn't know us but nevertheless we could stay with him for a whole week!
From the moment we met he was just so nice and friendly and we felt really at home at his place.
This is called "Couch" Surfing but - as a real gentlemen with 5 CS girls at his place one night - he wanted us to sleep in his bed while he was taking the Couch. He is always more than welcome to stay with us in Germany!
From Aviva Bergman Huelva, Spain Oct 2 Positive Seth's house is the best example of a true CS experience. He's damn laid-back, always able to crack his (wonderful) WV accent, tell stories of life in the truly slow-lane....while whipping up drinks and preparing for wild nights of BBQ's on his terrace, scaling the stairs up to the "real" roof or getting ready for revival.
He dedicated his house heart and soul to couchcrash NYC week in August, and left his house open and planned events for people while he was at work. He was always around at Revival giving massages, and Seth bearhugs :)
I've spent a lot of time with Seth in the past few months, and for some reason we have just "friended" each other on CS. He is a truly inspirational character with never-ending love for all. A master of CS, and of life!
From Justin Hindman Brooklyn, United States Sep 30 Positive I met Seth through Steve. Seth has always been hospitable and all around a super swell guy!!!
From Alzira A. New York, United States Sep 27 Positive Seth is super friendly and chill. He loves people, loves to throw parties and share his awesome apt with everyone :-) Loads of positive energy.
Good times, definitely.
See you around sometimes in the winter ;-)
From DASHA DMITRIEVA Florence, Italy Sep 25 Positive Unfortunately I haven't had much time to spend with Seth but he seems to be a great person..all the people who know Seth say such fantastic words about him..everybody just ADORE Seth! He is so open and kind..and I got the perception that when you ask him for a favour he is just unable to say "no".
Seth,I really would like to have a possibility to meet you again and know you better. A prestooo!! :))
From Lenka Hanzelova Melbourne, Australia Sep 19 Positive If there is a more easy going person out there please let me know:-) I'm sure Seth is it..He is just amazing, funny, cuddly, nice, nice and oh did I say nice? Oh yeah, and you are sure to have a party when you are around him
:-)..
From Lauren Covey New York, United States Sep 18 Positive I love Seth's positive attitude and I'm always laughing when I'm around him
From Lizzie Falkner Brooklyn, United States Sep 16 Positive if you are looking for a sweet cuddle bear that knows when to bring out the black label then this is the man!!! cheers!!!
From Dieter Roussel Ledegem, Belgium Sep 8 Positive Saturdaynight the 6th of Sept. was a good inauguration for mee... preparty in Seth's place and after that a Brooklyn Rooftopparty... Fuck... I was pretty drunk.... jeeezzz... my head the next morning...pffff! But what a great time I had....
Dieter
thx Seth
From Jaye New York, United States Sep 8 Positive What can I say about Mr. Wright Now that hasn't already been said? Nothing! So, I'll start by saying he is one of the most generous people I've ever met-always opening his home and helping people out when they need it. And then there's CouchCrash...who let's hundreds of people crash in their apt. everyday for a week?
Honestly Seth you're one in a million and in a world full of selfishness it's good to know that there are people like you who renew my faith in humanity!
Now if that was too heavy-I can also comment on how much fun we have had; everything from dancing at Karaoke bars and dive bars in Williamsburg to his fabulous rooftop parties and um costumed themed crazy nights.
I might add that Seth is a bit of a bad influence on me in the costume department and has gotten me in all kinds of trouble not to mention a new name!;)
So thanks Seth for being a friend, provocateur, therapist and all around good guy! As everyone who meets Seth knows we're all lucky to know him!
From Isabelle Verschraegen Zele, Belgium Aug 25 Positive Seth, oh seth
he takes away my breath
(this would definitely be the start of a hymn in his honour :) )
He is the sweetest guy you'll ever meet! I've only started to know him in the past week, but had amazing good times with him. He kidnapped me to his apartment and came out to far-away brooklyn to join me for dinner on my bday. I love to hug him. He has the tendency to lift me up, feet in the air. Dancing in the streets has reached a different level with Seth :)
Looking forward to more good times!
From Daniel Gardner New York, United States Aug 22 Positive After a particularly crazy night during Couch Crash Fest in NYC, I realized I left my camera at the bar. Seth picked it up and got it back to me. Thanks, Seth!
From Natália Ribeiro New York, United States Aug 21 Positive I met Seth in my first day when I moved to NYC. He courteously received me in his house where I audaciously called him the Devil (lol). Days go buy and Seth have been nothing but an angel in my life, a true friend: my confident, my partner in crime, my “go to guy” in the Big Apple. His generosity still astonishes me and his vivacity is just revitalizing! What else can I say besides: Te amo querido!!
From Mr S Jersey City, United States Aug 18 Positive Seth is very gregarious and takes time to know you personally ,and lot of fun .
From Marc Hendrix Woodside, United States Aug 16 Positive They call this guy the King if NY couch surfing and I believe it. A fellow southerner, he embodies everything good about growing up in a small town in the south. He is quite the ambassador for the south, and for New York City. This guy is the man.
From Dan Vetrano Philadelphia, United States Aug 15 Positive I can't thank Seth enough for letting me crash at his apartment in NY, extremely last minute. He is a really cool, laid back dude who embodies the true spirit of CouchSurfing. He also has a nice apartment, and his couch is comfortable. Bottom line: meet Seth, ASAP.
From HEAD FOR THE HORIZON Aberdeen, United Kingdom Aug 15 Positive I love Seth! He throws amazing parties in his amazing apartment. Super fun guy - hope to meet him again!
From Christine Seifert New York, United States Aug 14 Positive when i went to a party at seth's place for the first time, i was a bit worried, because i felt bad crashing his party with three other friends and i didn't know him... after all, my friend raul told me not to worry cause "his place is like a hostel"...
so after this first party it took some time to get to now seth better (there are always so many paople you wanna talk to atrevival) but my first impression never changed: he is generous, really social and smart. and during the whole time hosting csers he only had one bad experience giving his keys away... ;-)
From Steven Syrek New York, United States Aug 14 Positive He was The Living Room King during Couchcrash 2008 in New York.
From Roy Abraham Toronto, Canada Aug 12 Positive Seth is the kind of guy you want to come to your party (or at the very least organize it)!
Super chilled and very generous, he opened up his home, converting it into the infamous Couch Crash Fest "Living Room" for an entire week! Good times, Seth - hope to catch you again.
From Olivia Torrego Algete, Spain Aug 12 Positive Staying with Seth was a great pleasure and luck...You wouldn´t believe how many people love him and share his home and life with him and ...I was that lucky too!! We went together to a Revival and had a lot of fun :) ...A shame that last time I was too tired to keep partying...You feel very close to him as soon as you spend some time with him...and over all...
Seth´s smile cheers you up amazingly!Muchas gracias! Besotes XX
From Zvi Eli Bushwick Flushing, United States Aug 11 Positive Seth hosted a great party at his place. He is very hospitable, cool, and has a very cool apartment. Thanks dude, you rock.
From Raphael Koch Worms, Germany Aug 5 Positive Seth and I met during a lot of meetings in NYC and he is a cool laid back guy. I always enjoyed his presence and his way to do things. He's so friendly and cool. Thanks to him I discovered the amazing New York life night. If you want to have fun and share a great time in NY, go at Seth, he's just awesome!
From MiRA MiRA San Diego, United States Jul 25 Positive I finally got the chance to meet the most famous guy on the NY CS community...it was rather short but he was smiling and welcoming !!
Seth!! Thanks for the pict man ;) I'll meet you again for sure...NYC is calling me all the time =)
From Larry Streech Phoenix, United States Jul 25 Positive I met Seth while I was in new York for work and got to hang out with him at a few events and his big B-Day party. The guys is super laid back and easy going. Always makes sure you have a good time and has one of the coolest veiws of the city from his place. I had a great time hanging with him and hope he will come to AZ and let me show him around here soon.
I ended up surfing his place one night and because I went there with a few other people I got the hobit couch, but still got a good nights sleep ;)
As soon as you meet Seth and see how cool and easy going he is, you understand why he is the CS ambassador for New York and has almost 100 vouches.
He's just a Super Cool Cat ;)
From MZAN7276 Sydney, Australia Jul 21 Positive Seth is one of the most easy-going, chill people I've ever met. I had the best time in NY thanks to staying with him. I don't know how he does it, but he has an incredible nack for partying to all hours AND holding down a serious job! We BBQed, drank, partied, watched tv/movies, ate, and drank some more. He's so "tranquillo", kind, generous, warm and a perfect host. Everybody knows him and loves him. I'm so stoked he hosted me and really hope to see him again soon.... especially if I move to NY!! Thanks Seth - ur the best!
From Suuu New York, United States Jul 16 Positive Seth is the older brother I always wish I had. He is the person I can always run to and hug no matter what happens...he is a loyal friend with a heart so huge that he can fit everyone in there. I want to have him in my life forever and ever and ever!!
From Mari O. Thingelstad Honefoss, Norway Jul 16 Positive One of my first New York CS-excperiences was at a party at Seth´s. Overcrowded apartment, but all with the best people in New York!
Seth is just really warm and welcoming, and it seems like his apartment is always open for CSer!
Hope to be back in NY soon, and I´ll might send a request for your couch :)
Mari
From FAUSTROLL Milano, Italy Jul 16 Positive I can’t really say that I was Hosted by Seth, seemed to me that Seth was surfing with me in somebody else house. It was really great! Once I arrived in Seth house I fund myself into a community of truly friends and thinking of that in a city a like NYC is just amazing. Everybody should stay in Seth house, the New Yorkers too. Valerio
From Nelson Chen Flushing, United States Jul 8 Positive I will share something that people may not to mention enough here: A great cook, super nice apartment in one awesome location, nice rooftop where we have enjoyed the july 4th fireworks, super easy to talk to.
We have came across many times but always miss each other. But it's someone you will HAVE to meet when you are in New York. yeah, he just that awesome.
From Mads Lindgaard Hvidovre, Denmark Jun 25 Positive Seth is very nice guy. He let me crash his couch twice during my NY stay.
From Aurora Juarez Amsterdam, Netherlands Jun 20 Positive Seth is the best person ever. I love him and want to bear his children ;-)
With Seth there just was this automatic sense of familiarity and comfort that resulted in dinner parties/Dexter marathons, jumping hugs, piggy back rides, Drunken Kickball, and continuous dancing at crazy bulgarian bars! Seth's casa is where it's at, because it has loveable, hugable, Seth oh and beer!
----
i miss him as much as i love him which means a whole lot!
i also miss his living room where there was no such thing as time or day and it never mattered!
oh sethy you and your big open heart and perfectly matched couch.
hehe i'll always remember breaking your bed! and so many other parties at your casa, i'll be back for more promise! but above all i'll be back for them hugs!
From Sigrun Heian Carlsen Trondheim, Norway Jun 13 Positive Seth is the most sharing guy I ever met. He is super easygoing and if he is physically able he will help you out with a smile on his face. He also enjoys partying and I cant wait til its my turn to host him in Norway where I think we can cause som serious damage together (even though I know you are more a hotell kind of a guy, no excuses!)(:
In the future we are also planning to get married in Vegas for my greencard and his european passport.
Hope we will both meet again this autumn at octoberfest!
From Joyce Lee San Francisco, United States Jun 6 Positive Seth held an awesome roof top party and other CSers kindly took me along! Glad we met... many more happy meetings to come!
From Emanuele Sferruzza Reggio Emilia, Italy Jun 1 Positive When people asks me about NYC it could be easier for me to describe the life I had the possibility to share with Seth and the others couch surfers living in his place. I crushed on his couch one night because probably I was soOoOOooo much asleep that I crumbled down dead and opened the eyes in the morning, when we met somehow the first time. The circustances of my stay there were more "anthropologicals" than discovering the city itself, but Seth understood silently this me. He is a good laid back person. I had such a great time thanks to him, his good humor, the barbecue, the revival and whatever else (it's a long list, believe me) and the possibility of being with him and stay in his place... I should just say that the hug I gave him leaving was really not enough. He represents my NYC. With the unicorn cap (ehehehheheeh)... HUGS from wherever I am now!!! YOU ARE GREAT!
You are dear to me giant!
From Henrique Meyer Lajeado, Brazil May 28 Positive I met Seth at a ridiculously fun Couchsurfing meeting in New York on St. Patrick's Day. I didn't have a place to stay that night and he was nice enough to offer me his couch to sleep on when we left the bars at shit o'clock in the morning!
UPDATE: I saw Seth again at a birthday get-together on Saturday. He has the incredible ability to make a bottle of Scotch Whisky disappear before your very eyes!
From Tina Sabounati Hamburg, Germany May 27 Positive We had a great time at his place and he was really nice and showed and told us alot about New York.
From Benton Jones Seattle, United States May 27 Positive A man amongst men
From TARZAN_AZ Phoenix, United States May 25 Seth is such a cool laid back guy and so much fun to be around. Everyone knows him and it's obvious why he is the Ambassador for New York. Thanks for the drinks and good times in NY.
From Yossi Zilberman Brooklyn, United States May 22 Positive Seth is compassionate, empathetic and extremely generous. he welcomes everybody with his spacial great smile.
Seth, I feel very lucky to know you.
From Rossella Carbotti Bologna, Italy May 20 Positive Within seconds from meeting him, I felt like I had known Seth for ages and, yet, I was curious to know everything about him. That magic blend of sweet smiles and sparkly eyes, peacefulness and wildness is just what I need to make me want to get to know him better! Now I'll just have to come back to New York ASAP and hang out much more with you and the rest of the gang, Seth!
From PARISSI75018 Paris, France May 18 Positive Hi Seth !
Back in paris... But I wanted to thank you so much for your hospitality ! Really, I had such a good time in New york. You are such a welcoming and friendly host ! I am just disapointed that i couldn't stay for the revival. I hope I could experience it another time ! And don't forget, you are more than welcome in paris !
From SANJURO Arue, French Polynesia May 17 Positive Seth is one of the most motivated CSer at NYC, even at the last time, and not near, he was always coming ! From Karaoke to Restaurant, and he takes part of Revival of course. It was a pleasure to talk with him, he’s calm and friendly for it, but crazy for parties … :)
He’s one of people I’d like to see for a Tahiti Invasion ! GoGoGo !
From David Berrey North Pole, United States May 12 Positive One of the coolest dudes in the world, and I've meet a lot of cool dudes
From Rae Terheci London, United Kingdom May 12 Positive EXTREMELY RIDICULOUSLY POSITIVE!!!!!!
Seth is an exceptional human being. In fact, that might even be an understatement. Quite possibly the most generous giving bloke on the planet. I have "Surfed" with Seth so much here in NYC, that I should proobably pay him a couple of grand rent : P
I don't think I'd still be alive for this man. My time with him is up in a couple of days and I've come to love him like family (my husband to be exact) and I'm gonna miss him like crazy.
I'm forever in debt to him for everything he's done for me during my constantly extended stay in NYC, and I have to say, that you will be only lucky son of a @#$!% if your path in life crosses his.
Love to to the moon and back husband!
From ELECTRICNOMAD Petit Goave, Haiti May 11 Positive Seth is one of those guys who is so nice that the first 4-5 times I think it’s some kind of act. But damned if he wasn’t still the same straightforward gentleman after seeing him week in and week out and even surfing his couch. Seth is a stand-up guy who I would trust with my mom, all my cash, my health, etc.
From THERESEHEATHER Oxford, United Kingdom May 6 Positive Mr. Wright Now proved to be quite an interesting and excellent first (CS) experience. :)
From a random e-mail sent in 2007 to nearly a whole year later with close encounters at Revival, I was finally able to lubricate Mr. Wright with gin+tonics - though I must say, he is a difficult person to track down at Revival! Seth is indeed the life of the party, a genuine sweetheart who wholly embodies the CouchSurfing spirit. He is as wonderful as all his references testify. :)
But watch out, ladies - he'll charm your pants off. XD
Thanks for letting me "surf" with you, Seth! You are more than welcome to my place, wherever I am in the world! x Heather
From William Steele New York, United States May 5 Positive We've been long time friends, roommates and are currently business partners in two ventures of roughly 3+ years. I was his roommate when he first started hosting couch surfers.
