CouchSurfing ExperienceI have used CouchSurfing many times! It's win-win for everyone. I get the local experience, perhaps someone to travel with, and of course I save money too!InterestsTravel is my passion. I love to go to a place and meet the people and see what it has to offer. I might check out a place with an amazing nightlife, but I would also go to an area of conflict to see what's going on first-hand. It's all interesting.PhilosophyTravel is worth the credit card interest! One Amazing Thing I've Seen or DoneI went to Timbuktu. The hard way.
I flew to Dakar; hitched a ride with a group of totally legitimate businessman driving used European cars from the Port of Dakar to Mali to sell them; took a bus to Mopti; took a dhow on the Niger River for 2 days; and finally a 100km truck ride over the open Sahara.

From Christine Keene Anchorage, United States Sep 23 Positive Matt is one of the few people I might describe as crazier than me...but don't worry Matt, that's a good thing. He's always getting people together and cruising the town -- very outgoing and welcoming to all us newbies! Sorry I couldn't make it to that dive bar -- just can't keep up with the youngins anymore! ;)
