I got lucky to bump into him several times throughout the Swiss WE and thus enjoy his various sides, be it when being almost shily introduced to "magic" beer cocktails - come on, you must've been gone through crazier things than this ;-) - or more seriously answering my (probably still naive) questions about the whole CS project.
Inspite of the mild controversy surrounding CS which to me doesn't compromise its purpose generally - just google :-) his name if you're curious! - I will always be highly grateful for the tremendous impact CS already had on my life (and on some many others') in its current form, and in such a short time!
So, like he seems to usually do when writing references ;-), I'll send him back the thank you's thousandfold - THANK YOU, RESPECT!

And that's already the answer to the question that arises the moment you see him: How many freckles has this guy? The answer – again – is easy: One! It looks like there are my, but I think they're all connected and thus making up just one. Not that I really studied that too thouroughly since he's one of the guys whom you actually look into his eyes when you talk to him. For he's got this piercing look. Or maybe not piercing but rather one that seems to show – depending on the situation, but no matter how tired he is (and believe me: I've seen him very tired a few times in Eisenstadt ;-D) – a really great interest in what you're saying or joy in what he's doing or focus on what he thinking/talking about. Which is the next thing you'll find out about: He can be an extremely focused guy. No wonder he played a not too minor role in creating all this here;-) And then there are the other things that make him a very likable fellow: like his (typical American) approachability, his very open and kind attitude and that he is the kind of guy you can very easily imagine to have some work to do with just as well as a beer, a chat, a quickie, a laugh – you name it! I admit that before I met him at the EU Collective in Eisenstadt/Vienna I speculated that he might be of a bit of a vain peacock what with his name at the bottom of every singe CS page and in all the groups (without his intention though: "…Casey, code this…" / "Casey fix that, please…") and his face on the main page and so on…But after having met him I cannot do anything else but to quote babe's father: "When I'm wrong, I say I'm wrong " (not the Aussie pig but the one who nobody puts in a corner!!!). He's a really nice and down-to-earth fellow: meet him, have fun with him and a cool and interesting time!
Update: Let the usual retarded call me Casey's bully or one of his blind believers (or whatever even less witty crap they manage to come up with...) - but I for one am happy to have this freckled midget and his likes lead our cozy lil' community the way they've done so far!

Well he came, we'd a number of guests and a really nice dinner evening and it was very enjoyable. I have to say that personally I found Casey both rooted and ordinary and yet at the same time a really special person who had insight understanding and empathy for all he met - throw in a really cool sense of humour, a can-help attitude and an intellect brimming with ideas, meant that Casey, if he had never founded CS, would be in that special group of people I call my good friends.
This group dont necessarily do loads of things together but they understand each other and frequency of contact is irrelevant ... that been said I hope Casey surfs my couch soon!!

Most of all intuitively I sensed an integrity and honesty about the guy. He's a magnificent people person and by that I mean he clearly cares about people. It was amazing to be able to thank him, in person, for all of the work he has done for all of us over the years! Wow! What I found in Casey was an extremely intelligent, friendly, fun guy who is also very humble and down to earth. He truly loves to live life to the fullest. He has an easy smile, and is so welcoming and kind. He also knows how to get down in his fuzzy pink bear outfit. :)
Casey is constantly doing whatever he can to make CS even better- wearing countless hats and working countless hours to make the site, and the community- which is the heart of CS, even better.. always looking at all of the angles. The thing is, that he's able to do all of this both calmly and wisely while keeping the atmosphere fun and open. Thanks, so much Casey! I'm glad to call you a friend. :)

Since Casey and the gang was so busy with solving problems I decided to bring them some liquid Belgian gold and some Polish blond ;) a couple of days later. At first I was a little nervous about the idea, but when I met Casey I realized how ridiculous I was being because he's so down-to-earth, easy to talk to and passionate. After talking with Casey and his friends I understand how hard the administrators are working to keep the CouchSurfing ideals at the forefront as the community grows and grows. They deserve so much credit for their commitment and superhuman work ethics. I'm glad I was able to show him and his friends my Yosemite and give them a break from sitting in front of a computer. I've known Casey since his ti80 super-calculator helped me pass Geometry. That was back in 1994, oh yeah! beat that! We were just young whipper-snappers then--he used to make DOOM levels with secret switches that would crush the world on me. I'm still a little sore about that...anyway! old school!
