Personal DescriptionI support The OpenCouchSurfing Campaign. Please check out the site and sign the petition.
I'm a bit of an adventurer. I make quick decisions, go places, do things, and then wonder how I'm going to get back / go forward / survive afterwards.
My plan is to have no plan, it's working out quite well so far.
Easiest way to find out more about me is to check out my blog at www.callum-macdonald.com How I Participate in CS2I hosted a bunch of people in Bangkok and I was in Nelson, New Zealand at the CS Collective.
I had joined the Tech Team, but due to issues with the NDA I wasn't really able to do very much. Then because I supported the OpenCouchSurfing campaign I was fired as a volunteer! :) CouchSurfing ExperienceI've hosted a bunch of people and am about to embark on a spell of surfing! InterestsI really enjoy meeting people. I've met a few people recently and realised not everyone is like that. I thought it was part of the human condition, the desire to meet others, but maybe not.
I'm also fascinated by the creativity of business, organisation structures, team work, maximising productivity, how the mind works, how we can achieve more with our minds, and stuff like that. PhilosophyMy plan is to have no plan.
I believe daily practice is the foundation of success in any pursuit. Be it yoga, meditation, or maintaining a healthy relationship. Music, Movies, BooksI actively discourage musical snobbery. I have great difficulty when people look at my music collection and say "What, you listen to Celine Dion?", which I don't, but the woman has sold millions of CDs!
Each to their own. Types of People I enjoyIntelligent people, willing to think, discuss, debate, ponder, share, learn, teach, explore. all that good stuff. Teach, Learn, ShareI can teach traditional Scottish country dancing, known in Scotland as ceilidh dancing (pronounced kaylee). The simplest dance is called the Gay Gordons and is really very easy to learn... :)
I also have lots of opinions on ethical consuming, wealth, and other world issue sort of stuff. One Amazing Thing I've Seen or DoneClimbed the dolomites (I can't spell!) in Italy, an amazing jazz club in San Francisco, a small village temple in Thailand... Opinion on the CouchSurfing.com ProjectI think CouchSurfing has some major challenges, moving from a small core organisation into a larger, more structured body of people. I'm curious to see how the organisation, specifically the founders, will rise to this challenge. Interesting times to come. He is perfect friend. With him you can feel easy and protected. Good luck to you, babe! Hope to see you in Russia! Take care.

callum apologized which i appreciate.
However, i persist that he has some real issues he needs to get a hold of concerning his behaviour when he drinks.
From Enzo Lombard San Francisco, United States Dec 25, 2007 Positive Callum came to our Xmas Eve get-together. Great open guy active in CS, who seems very open and warm. Surely a great choice for a surf or to host.

If your easily offended by crudeness he might not be your cup of tea.
From Ivan Phillips London, United Kingdom Dec 16, 2007 Positive I met Calum at a couchsurfing party he organised in vegas. We started off at a beer place near the university - then headed over to the rio for the 'big sleazy party'. I managed to get us all into the VIP room, where there was food and drink aplenty! From Jim Stone Berkeley, United States Dec 8, 2007 At the Collective in New Zealand Callum upset our neighbors by noisily and drunkenly urinating in their yard on the way home from a party at 4am. The next day they formed a committee and came over to voice how upset they were. I would be uncomfortable having him on my couch as I'd rather not take the chance of him pissing in the yards of my neighbors.
From CRASH ANOVA San Francisco, United States Nov 14, 2007 Positive Callum was really cool. He was so accomodating, even when I got to his apartment butt early in the morning after a long flight from Oz. He took me around Bangkok, introduced me to his friends and helped me get from place to place.
We had some good nights out too!

From Kim McDonald Edinburgh, United Kingdom Jul 25, 2007 Positive It was great to finally meet Callum recently and get to know him a bit better! A true Scotsman, and despite his busy schedule Im sure his surfers would have a great Scottish experience staying with him. Without Callum's great dancing and organisational skills at the ceilidh during Edinburgh Rocks, many of the dances would have turned into cs chaos!
From Jade Johnston Winnipeg, Canada Jul 25, 2007 Positive I met him at the ceilidh at Edinburgh Rocks and saw him at most of the other events as well. Resourceful mind, although we don't always see eye to eye on things in the CS-cyberworld. Good for beers, laughs and free hugs all around the world :)
From Rebekah Van Leest Nathalia, Australia May 4, 2007 Positive Oopsy, forgot to leave reference. Anyway, even though a few months have passed and the memory is fuzzy, I can say that everything I remeber about Callum is positive. He is very welcoming and genourous. From Joshua Adair Austin, United States Apr 16, 2007 Positive Callum is a stereotypical Micheal Jackson Celine Dion loving Scotsman. His music is a bit dodgy, but he's class nonetheless. Shazzam!
