Personal DescriptionLong-time vegetarian, anarchist, adhocrat, utopist dreamer. Silently talkative. Intelligence is futile. Intellectual hitchhiker.
I tend to do whatever I love to do. Dance, make music, laugh, travel, code, write.
I'm frugal and generous, extrovert and spontaneous, introvert and thoughtful.
I don't vote! I hate politics and I'll start a political party before 2020!
I play a bunch of musical instruments, guitar, sitar, synths, jaw harp, and anything that can make sound (pans, empty cans, pianos). How I Participate in CS2I help the project by directing everyone I meet to www.bewelcome.org.
Volunteering for CouchSurfing was a huge part of my life for 9 months. I have participated in 3 CouchSurfing Collectives, in Montreal, Quincy CA and Nelson, New Zealand. My main activities were:
* Coordination of the Tech Team: getting many developers and sysadmins involved in CS
* Starting and maintaining the CouchSurfing Wiki
* Cleaning up the code base
* Fixing many bugs
* Developing new features

Later I stayed at people's homes, and people stayed at my home.
On Wikitravel - I'm wikiholic - I found out about hospitality exchange networks, just about the time I started hitchhiking and life became crazier, better and crazier!
First time I hosted people from hospitality exchange network, I had 6 people in my house, 4 Finnish vegan hitchhike girls and a couple from Warsaw. My girlfriend at the time didn't like it very much. Tried some more. Didn't like it. Ditched girlfriend. Depression. Hosted some more people. Left Paris. Never really had a home since then.
Been hosted in more than 30 countries on 6 continents, by hundreds of people, in tents, houses, lofts and vehicles. I hosted people in Paris, New Zealand, Amsterdam and at times in tents in Europe and places that I guest myself.

Eben Moglen's dotCommunist Manifesto comes close to my political philosophy:
"A Spectre is haunting multinational capitalism--the spectre of free information. All the powers of globalism have entered into an unholy alliance to exorcize this spectre: Microsoft and Disney, the World Trade Organization, the United States Congress and the European Commission. ...
We, the creators of the free information society, mean to wrest from the bourgeoisie, by degrees, the shared patrimony of humankind. We intend the resumption of the cultural inheritance stolen from us under the guise of intellectual property, as well as the medium of electromagnetic transportation. We are committed to the struggle for free speech, free knowledge, and free technology. The measures by which we advance that struggle will of course be different in different countries, but the following will be pretty generally applicable:
1) Abolition of all forms of private property in ideas.
2) Withdrawal of all exclusive licenses, privileges and rights to use of electromagnetic spectrum. Nullification of all conveyances of permanent title to electromagnetic frequencies.
3) Development of electromagnetic spectrum infrastructure that implements every person's equal right to communicate.
4) Common social development of computer programs and all other forms of software, including genetic information, as public goods.
5) Full respect for freedom of speech, including all forms of technical speech.
6) Protection for the integrity of creative works.
7) Free and equal access to all publicly-produced information and all educational material used in all branches of the public education system.

We are in regular contact
From DUESSELDORF Düsseldorf, Germany Jun 8 Positive We met several times already - like at the BeWelcome unconference in Antwerpen or the BW general assembly in Essen. With his infatigable energy Kasper is always a great addition to any discussion and workshop and I consider myself a lucky person knowing him.
From Pickwick Berlin, Germany May 18 Positive Integrity, creativity, and a heart of gold!
From polarfox Bremen, Germany May 16 Positive Apparently it is meant that I meet Kasper over and over again this year. The good thing about it is that it is always a pleasure to do so. In Antwerp he explained me how to use Wikis and thereby gave me the tool to leave a bigger impact. BIG THANKS!!! In Amsterdam we shared a dinner after he set me in contact with his friend Robin. A great character. We also played some jaw's harp there... whereby he was really good and I sucked. It was fun anyway. And last but not least I saw him again on the BBC this year. Far too short I have to admit but looking back on what he did for me already, I am seriously looking forward to meet him again. And I'm sure it will happen, one way or the other. Cheers mate, I'm happy to know you.
From Robino Amsterdam, Netherlands Apr 8 Positive Guaka did a lot for the hitchhiking and hospitality communities. Why? If Kasper is onto something, he sticks. Be happy for that as he is very creative mind, a great friend and very eclectic. Kasper is able to move quickly, he is excellent in finding his way in the wild, he can be easily inspired by others and knows how to inspire others by simply doing.
From Maai Laget Gent, Belgium Apr 6 Positive it was a really really nice staying at kaspers house ! he was very nice! thanks a lot for everthing and see you in gent !
From Walindah Seema Johannesburg, South Africa Apr 6 Positive We met at the Am*dam meetup and had a great chat. Very interesting guy.
From Phoebe Ayers Davis, United States Mar 30 Positive Kasper is an outgoing and interesting person who is a good conversationalist and an experienced traveler.
From Stefano Cortinovis Bergamo, Italy Mar 27 Positive Without the shadow of a doubt, one of the most interesting individuals I've met through hospitality exchange networks. Kasper has a deep knowledge of a series of highly interesting topics, from computer programming to sound theory, from linguistics to intellectual property and copyright laws; but he's also involved in a wide range of projects, including social networks, wikis, and who knows what else. Being an experienced traveller, he was able to share a bit of what he learned between a drink in town, a ride to the city, a chat with his Finnish guests and friends. I wonder where we are going to meet in the future.
From Fabrice Renucci Toulon, France Mar 26 Positive Kasper is just one of those inspiring people.
We organized a free hugs campaign in Amsterdam and had a lot of fun hugging the whole city.
This guy has a lot of inspiring travelling experiences to share with us. Nice one!
From LETSGO123 Los Angeles, United States Mar 26 Positive Kasper.. thanks for your big help during my short hectic stay in A'dam. You are super helpful, friendly and easy going guy that will remind me of you everytime I think about A'dam especially the bicycle ride thru the city chasing the bus, lol:-) Wish I have more time there but there's always next time. Thanks again dude for your help. Cheers!
From CHAVALES Barcelona, Spain Mar 15 Positive He gave me several free hugs in the Dam Square; then he cooked for us some veggie (and spicy!!) food at Robin's appartment; and finally we drank a few beers. Kasper is one of the real jewels in the Am*Dam CS community. Do not miss the chance to meet him in person. Carpe Diem, J
From WITHNOSENSE Amsterdam, Netherlands Mar 9 Positive if you want to feel free to fall in yourself without worring for few seconds about the rest...then you should try his hugs!
(I'm happy too.)
From Jannie de Ruiter Amsterdam, Netherlands Mar 9 Positive Kaspar is a gooood hugger! Hope to see you again!
From LALA CRAVERO Pozo Borrado, Argentina Mar 3 Positive Kasper spend one night at my place in Santa Fe. He is a very very interesting person, knows a bit of everything. I could play his strange musical instrument. (sorry for not writing this before!) Hope to meet him again any time!
From Yuri Cardenas San Francisco, United States Feb 26 Positive kasper creates the best breakfast spreads. even if i was a sicky poo, i appreciated the visual affect! :D
From NAT-CHO Amsterdam, Netherlands Feb 22 Positive Behind this calm and soft appearance, I think there is a very open, socially intelligent, sweet, reliable, risky, careful, ice-breaking,adventurous, spontaneous, moment loving, pretty, legere, world forming, wild, crazy, musical, veggie person. Wish to have more of some crazy guitar & cooking sessions with you !
From Crystal Molenaar Nijmegen, Netherlands Feb 17 Positive It was nice meeting Kasper. He is a very nice conversation partner and has done a lot of hitchhiking, which I find very intresting! I feel definetly excited about meeting him again on a Amsterdam meeting some day!
From Maikel Lourenssen Oss, Netherlands Feb 17 Positive When looking at him first time I thought where do I know him from...
Later thinking made me realize that I know him from online groups where he posts.
He has a great spirit of hospitality and whatever the network is I look forward to meet him more anyway.
From HIPPOCAMPE Paris, France Feb 16 Positive Kasper is very easy-going and free-spirited. He offered such an amazing breakfast(vegan and organic) every morning. Even though I am not a vegan, I fell in love with everything, especially vegan paté!
We had great time walking through the park and wondering around the town. He made my stay more enjoyable for sure. Thanks!
From Giorgio Guzzetta Trento, Italy Feb 9 Positive From the few talk we had, I can say he's a great man! A pity he's moved away from Trento.
From Meinhard Benn Hamburg, Germany Jan 21 Positive his u.f.o. landed, he stepped out, greeted the earthlings around him, said a few words and stepped back into the craft and flew away. what he didn't know was that i had planted a device on his transport unit that would allow me to interfere with his brain waves. my ray emitter would from then on influence his every move and word. just subtle enough to not be noticed by anyone. we had established a permanent, yet loose link. mind: this information is classified as for your eyes only.
From RUNIA Poissy, France Jan 20 Positive Kasper came up with some really good ideas regarding the couchsurfing system to better fit and support the community. I'd definitely like the "free" and "secure" spirit of his ideas being integrated into CS. The ideal would be a sensible merge of CS and OCS. When would such dreams come true? See you soon, Kasper! :)
From Graziano Tullio L'Aquila, Italy Jan 14 Positive Kasper is the real globe-trotter! When we first met in Florence I was fascinated by his travel tales around the world. I tried to follow his hitchhiking hints...but I was waiting in the street for hours!
From Fabrizia Trento, Italy Jan 12 Positive kasper is a great guy, genius and naive at the same time. he always has a big smile on his face, trento will not be the same without him...
From Massimo Bennardo Pistoia, Italy Jan 6 Positive Met him in Florence during CS meeting. He's very interesting, funny and smart.
He can also play "maranzano" , typical sicilian instrument!
From Nicklas Gummesson Gothenburg, Sweden Jan 2 Positive We celebrated NYE together with a bunch other CS's in Rome. A really fun and interesting guy! :)
From LittleHappySun ... Edinburgh, United Kingdom Jan 1 Positive We lived the Cs party for the new year together!! :) I really hope you enjoyed the roman night live!
We did not speak a lot (there was so much mess!!) but I hope to see you again to know you better! :D
See yaaa
Happy New Year again!!!!
From SIRLI Tallinn, Estonia Dec 25, 2007 Clad that i had a change to meet "The Kasper" finally! :)
From Jordan & Michelle Schwartz Seattle, United States Dec 23, 2007 Positive Kasper came up to Florence for a CS meeting and surfed our couch-away-from-home for a couple nights. Super smart and very intent on the couchsurfing philosophy. Good guy to know, I promise.
From Amylin Loglisci Avignon, France Dec 22, 2007 Positive I traveled with Kasper for over a year. We've surfed on hundreds of couches together, on four continents; we've hosted people in the various places that we've lived, as well. At his best, Kasper is a funny, playful, charming, ridiculously tall Dutch boy. He learns languages quickly, is extremely easy-going, and is a skillful operator of computers and musical instruments. He has strong convictions, and firmly stands up for what he thinks is right.
At his worst, he sometimes has a tendency to take the things in life for granted. After seeing so much of the world, it's no wonder that he's a bit dazed. And, please, whatever you do-- don't let him drink too much! He also has a bad habit of making stupid decisions.
But, I have mostly good things to say about this person, who I have spent so much time next to in this past year. He means more to me than anyone else.
From Giorgos Gakis Athens, Greece Dec 19, 2007 Positive Kasper is a cool guy!!We were both strangers in the same place!(Verona)Interesting guy!You should meet him!!
From Francesca Moscardo Verona, Italy Dec 17, 2007 Positive Kasper is an extremely interesting person, he has to tell a lot of things! Talking to him, I realized that my world is a too small world!
From Sauro Panini Verona, Italy Dec 10, 2007 Positive risotto party at Raffaello's birdie was the occasion which made us meet..he's nice and very helpful..
From Elena Facchini Padova, Italy Dec 7, 2007 Positive Kasper, it was so fun hanging out with you even if it was only for a few short hours it seemed like much longer. You are a kind interesting gentle soul. Thank you so much for running after me in the station to try to rescue my sad single glove which I dropped a million times that day :) Next time we'll hang out for longer, I hope.
From Kelly Mitchell Sydney, Australia Dec 4, 2007 Positive He is a nice, very intellegent guy and has many amazing stories to tell! I have only heard a few, but what I have heard is pure gold..
From Raffaello Fasoli Verona, Italy Dec 4, 2007 Positive He is extremely good person! I hope to meet him again because he's interesting and very friendly. I feel that we are similar...
From Juanjo Pons Algemesi, Spain Dec 4, 2007 Positive i met this interesting guy at Saras place during the cs meeting and next day we met again at Jurgas place...
Kasper is really very friendly and hospitable, he seems so calm and quiet that exteriorize his good feelings. he is at the same time very easygoing and openminded person, he belive totally in this club, cose he is completely inside it. 100% trustworthy,100% recomended & 100% couchsurfer...
Kasper, it was really a pleasure to meet u during my staying in Verona, i'll be waiting the ocasion for meeting u again, but next time with more time for enjoying more conversation not so stanco(me)that last time...take care, Juanjo.
From Diego Ponte Trento, Italy Dec 4, 2007 Positive Casper is a very cool guy! I liked the meeting in his apartment!
From Francesco Magagnino Verona, Italy Dec 1, 2007 Positive he organized a great party in his flat where i meet him for the first time and many other international cool people!!!
From Eric Denver, United States Nov 22, 2007 Positive Kasper is a character worth going out of your way to find. When it comes to hospitality, he is as relaxed and open as they come. When it comes to licking the melted chocolate and fried banana residue off the bottom of the pan, count on him. When it comes to extended ecomobile hours, he will deliver. He is a giver. See you, Kasper, here or there!
From Geneviève Plouffe Montreal, Canada Nov 19, 2007 Positive We had a lot of fun with Kasper!! He is a very intelligent person who always gets into situations that bring funny stories and adventures.. like with the EcoMobile! hope i'll see you again somehow!
From Nancy Murphy New York, United States Oct 29, 2007 Positive Short meeting but good times--Kasper doesn't share any resemblence to a ghost. and he was so nice to lend me $$ when my wallet disappeared!
From SUSANNE!! Cambridge, United States Oct 19, 2007 Positive We enjoyed hosting Kasper and Amylin, maybe we will visit them in Italy someday!
From Victor Aspidov Moscow, Russia Sep 25, 2007 Positive He is generous, great traveller. It was fun to cook, live, eat, go out, take our time. So, I know quite well he is easy-going, interesting and funny chap. Probably a good film director in the future. When you meet ask him about cream.
From Agne Sinkeviciute Sydney, Australia Sep 5, 2007 Positive Being hosted by these lovely people was an extremely positive experience. We had the biggest care, we never were thirsty, hungry or cold during the time we stayed with them. Wish we spent more time there and saw the cool cars ;)
From Chatree Suphakorn Bang Yai, Thailand Aug 29, 2007 Positive Kasper is very knowledgable CS member who taught me about how CS system work that why I created my "Thailand, Cambodia and Laos Adventure Tours" Both Kasper and Amylin were really power saving CS, they didn't turn air-con on, may be they come from a cold country. We wish you guy a successful and prosperous life in Italy.
From Tintin Skyttevåg Reykjavik, Iceland Aug 23, 2007 Positive I can't believe how many languages this guy knows and he's always up for learning more, even the most unnecessary words like "mungiga"! ;) At the same time I was there he and Amylin where also hosting three Lithuanian girls and they even treated us with delicious vegan food and took us to the centro sociale. Plus they shared some really interesting stories. Really cool people! Would have stayed longer if I hadn't been sick and sensitive to the hot weather.
From Joni Renee Zalk Denver, United States Aug 22, 2007 Positive Kasper is simply incredible. I emailed him at the last minute, and he was a yes!
Thank you Kasper!
From Yaniv Mazor Barcelona, Spain Aug 17, 2007 Positive trust me, trust him!!! :)
more after ill get back home!
From Roy Abraham Toronto, Canada Aug 13, 2007 Positive I have been on/off contact with Kaspar for about a year, so I was excited to finally meet him at the Berlin Beach Camp '07. We didn't get a chance to speak much, but it's apparent that he is passionate about what he believes in, is very idealistic and has solid values. Perhaps his dreams are too utopian for CouchSurfing. Even so, I'm glad he still tries to achieve them via BeWelcome.

From EMCHICKY Northampton, United States Aug 3, 2007 Positive he slept out back. was passing through with two friends. very nice folk, open to morning conversation - evening activities. helped me back my car out of the drive, so i wouldnt hit a car.
From Daniel Kasatchkow Istanbul, Turkey Jul 29, 2007 Positive When I was looking for a couch in Trento, Kasper did everything possible to help me out.
And then, while in Trento we met a few times. A really great experience to meet him.
From ANU* Helsinki, Finland Jul 26, 2007 Positive Kasper's a dedicated advocate of do-ocracy, transparency and really wants to make the world a better place through intelligent approaches. He's an asset as a volunteer for any organization that shares these values - unfortunately CS does not :(
He's an expert linguist, considerate nomad, vegetarian, musician, intellectual and who knows what else :) - can't wait to find out with less of the organizational context and more space for a true friendship to form!
From Marouen Tunis, Tunisia Jul 19, 2007 Positive Wiki guru and open mind and spirit. I don't believe what CS people said about him and I support his dreams to make the world an open space.
From Rachele _N Trento, Italy Jul 10, 2007 Positive They are a sweet and original couple!
They've been patient with me!
From Paolo Massa Trento, Italy Jul 4, 2007 Positive I'm really looking forward to work with Kasper on exciting stuff and change the world. I like his sincerity, integrity and adventurousity (if this is a word ;-)
From Bjoern-Erik Wenz Berlin, Germany May 30, 2007 Positive I've known Kasper from many online conversations and we finally met on the Berlin Beach Camp 2007. He then stayed at my place with lovely Amylin and we had a long night with intense and inspiring conversations. Kaspers relaxed and openly friendly attitude make him a great guest and coversationalist and his passion for social responsibility and making this world a better place totally agrees with me. They were totaly uncomplicated guests and are always welcome in my home!
From Evan Prodromou Montreal, Canada May 22, 2007 Positive Kasper is an idealist who believes in sharing information with the world. He's friendly, warm, and funny. I really recommend getting to know him as a friend.
From Kate Fox Henley on Thames, United Kingdom May 16, 2007 Positive Kasper and Amylin came to Guilin for a few days and were lovely and really interesting to spend time with- they opened our eyes to hitchhiking and more about couchsurfing and gave us loads of advice about travelling round S E Asia. And cheers for all the vegan food it was delicious! Good luck with all your future travels... See you in Europe!
From Imran SincereDRAGON Mui Wo, Hong Kong May 16, 2007 Positive Very nice experience with them when they stayed with me. They cooked and we just felt as flat mates then just couchsurfers. Kasper and Amylin both were very friendly nature and very interesting to talk to. we had a good time even though it was short. Had good chat and they have many good qualities that one can look for good friends.
Best wishes guys.
From Megan MacKay Edmonton, Canada May 16, 2007 Positive I had a very nice dinner with Kasper and Amylin. They are very interesting and nice to talk with!
From Nephele Athens, Greece May 16, 2007 Positive Kasper shared valuable info&tips on pretty much everything and we had some v.interesting conversations mixing together all the languages we can speak combined. If you meet him, try and pick his mind on the future of social networking. His personal example &view on the world around him made me think &re-think my priorities.. See you!
From MELIKB Paris, France Apr 26, 2007 Positive Well do not believe the photos... Psychoboy is actually akin to a genius with a razor-sharp mind, a knack for languages, and a laziness that even a tropical monkey would envy. Lotsa fun, great conversations, great time altogether... We'll meet again Kasper. I am sure of that!
From JETSETTER Berlin, Germany Apr 25, 2007 Positive Goofy Dutch guy. "Kind", "funny" and "sincere" are three words I would use to describe Kasper. He is the most genuine guy I have ever met - what you see is what you get! We travelled South America together for five weeks, it was a lot of fun. There was never a dull moment with his jokes and goofy ways! and he had a lot of patience with my fussy and "jet-setting" ways.
From BenneEvrim Kavuncu Ankara, Turkey Apr 20, 2007 Positive We met first in Laos, then in China again and Kaspar helped us out because we couldn't get any money from the bank...
It was very interesting to meet and also to hear som stories from the collective...
From Chris Kierspel Düsseldorf, Germany Apr 18, 2007 Positive It was nice to meet up with him. You can have interesting talks and discussions about everything. Truely a wikipediamanic :) keep going....
From REDZSTAR London, United Kingdom Apr 14, 2007 Positive I have enjoyed the company of Kasper in 2 countries now. He is a man of many and few words, with a big heart and guitar skills to boot.
From Jeremie Chetrit Berkeley, United States Apr 2, 2007 Positive Kasper is Amylin's wetter half. As the tides keeps the moon orbiting around the Earth, Kasper prevents Amylin from whirling into outer-space and bumping into things like comets. Like the ocean, he is relaxed & inviting, but he can have his moments of fury--like when crowds of obnoxious Asians are trying to pull him into their bars to see girls playing with ping-pong balls and bananas.
From Jean-Baptiste GIBILY Torino, Italy Mar 26, 2007 Positive This guy is amazing, he is interested in so many different languages ! that is exactly the kind of curious and full-of-knowledge person I enjoy meeting :) Пока друг !
From Minty Charernboon Bangkok, Thailand Mar 15, 2007 Positive I had fun talking to Kasper. We went to Kaosarn road along with other 6 surfers. It was such a fun night.
