I decided to crash on the couch in an Internet cafe in Thailand. The manager knew me and used my camera to take this photo. I guess this was my first CouchSurfing experience!View all 15 photos
Personal DescriptionI am an outgoing and adventurous person with a passion for learning anything and everything. I love experimenting and trying new things. I'm also a little crazy, but don't worry, I don't bite. Often.CouchSurfing ExperienceI'm new to couchsurfing! Be nice to me!InterestsComputers / IT is my work. I work on eCommerce and web systems. I have also recently gotten into graphic design.
I am also into skiing/snowboarding, photography, rock climbing, scuba diving, hiking and setting things on fire.
I am fascinated by the world around me. Not just the natural world, but the man made one too. I am equally happy creeping through a rainforest observing the fauna and flora as I am walking through ancient streets in ancient cities, while setting ancient buildings on fire.
I have a passion for learning. Not anything in particular, but I like learning about everything. The more I learn, the more I realize just how much I have yet to learn. I have a huge collection of books that are great for setting on fire.
I have an avid interest in the sciences. While I don't have formal education in any of the scientific fields, I keep up to date with the latest developments by reading journals and publications whenever I get a chance. I can spend hours researching topics, so long as I end up learning a new way to start a fire.
I also keep up to date on world politics and economics. I read BBC World News, CNN and various local papers from around the world at least several times a week. I take a keen interest in economics and business, and I maintain a small share portfolio partly for fun and partly as an investment. One day I hope to sell my shares and use the funds to make a gigantic wooden pyramid. Which I will set on fire.
In short, I am interested in just about everything you can imagine. Except tabloid magazines. When I find them, I immediately set them on fire.
Ok ok, I'm kidding about the fire thing. No really, don't be scared, it's a joke.PhilosophyI live my life to help improve the lives of others. I believe in the power of the mind and the human spirit. A combination of wisdom and truly selfless intentions are the only way to improve the world in which we live. Hmm... I sound like I'm from the '60s.Music, Movies, BooksIf it's not tabloid junk, then I'll watch it, listen to it or read it. And then set it on fire.Types of People I enjoyIf you're not going to try to kill me, I want to meet you. I love meeting people and learning as much about them as I can. Show me something new and I'll love you!
I especially respect people who do volunteer work or otherwise contribute their time, effort or resources to helping out those who need it. Swapping success stories is very rewarding!Teach, Learn, ShareI want to learn about anything that you want to tell me about, and would be happy to teach you anything that I can offer. I can pick my nose with my big toe.
Alternatively, I could take you scuba diving, rock climbing, snow boarding or just sit down and have a long chat (in front of a huge fire). One Amazing Thing I've Seen or DoneWhen we were living in Saudi Arabia we once went traveling in a 4x4 around the desert. Sleeping under the night sky in the desert is amazing.Opinion on the CouchSurfing.com ProjectI love it! I only hope the people are as much fun as they seem in their profiles. Well, only one way to find out. World, here I come!Locations TraveledTRAVELED: France, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom LIVED: Australia, Saudi Arabia WANTS TO GO: Brazil References
From the rachel New York, United States May 24 Positive Naz is awesome. He's generous with his time, his caring & his thoughts. He's patient & explained some really cool tech concepts for me while he was at the CSC. The 7-hour massage helps the local economy, so does getting all the orange juice! Naz is an cool person to meet. I hope to run into him somewhere else on the planet.
From Peter F. Vienna, Austria May 14 Negative He's maintaining a site where my posting was just deleted :-(
From Shonali Shetty Mumbai, India Apr 15 Positive When the whole world wonders were is Nazz? Nazz will be basking in the glory of his adventures. He can land up at your door at anytime if there is any fun calling on him. He is pretty much a bouncing castle from Australia to Thailand to Australia to Thailand to South Africa all in just a couple of months. I will wait for your next call Nazz, to tell me your just a drive away ;)
From DIAMONDINLONDON Harrow, United Kingdom Apr 10 Positive I met Naz at the 2008 Couchsurfing collective in Thailand where we became room mates for a month. I also surfed at both Naz's place in Melbourne and his parent's place where himself, his housemate and all his family made me feel extremely welcomed.
Naz does a great job of balancing responsibility with adventure and is extremely considerate of others. Certainly hope we get the chance to travel together again in the future.
If you're looking for a host and you enjoy interesting debate, diving, rock climbing, pizza or ice cream sundaes then you'll love surfing at his place.
From LAURA GAMSE Arlington, United States Apr 8 Positive Naz was one of the most helpful, friendly, influential people at the thailand collective. he's even the reason the collective was IN thailand in the first place! saving kittens or introducing us to the delicacies of thailand, he brought a unique and positive perspective to the house that i only wish we had gotten a little more of! alas, Naz is a traveling man...
From Raphaela Nitz Offenburg, Germany Mar 18 Positive Naz is a very caring, openhearted and also funny person. I really hope we meet again one day! Maybe in Germany or Australia...?
From Liam Ross Palatine, United States Mar 5 Positive I briefly met Naz in Bangkok and had a wonderful time exploring the city with him!
From Chris Burley Brattleboro, United States Jul 5, 2007 Positive Naz has an answer for everything. If you ask him about pet allergies, blue diode scanning technologies, heating pad chemical reactions or the merits of drinking whole milk vs half(ass) milk he'll explain to you, in a clear manner, with at least 3 reasons why, citing at least 3 sources supporting his reasoning.
In short ... he's rad. We've had a ton of great talks at the Rotterdam Collective, where do I find a chain so that he won't leave.
From Walter Heck Homer, United States Jul 4, 2007 Positive Naz is a great guy. He is a very interesting person to talk to due to many reasons. He is a well educated man from a completely different background, which makes for great conversations.
He came to the collective for a few days, ending up staying for almost two weeks!
From Diederik en Esther de Vries Rotterdam, Netherlands Jun 23, 2007 Positive I met Naz at the CSC-Techmeeting 22 June of 2007. Although I'm still quite amazed of the love at the CSC in general, Naz was one of the fellows that was quit, and brought peace and harmony :)
Cheers mate! 'll see again!
From Lineke Schoombie Roodepoort, South Africa Dec 5, 2006 Positive Naz has so much to tell anyone. Even though he doesn't drink (good for you Naz) he still sociolizes like the rest of us drunk asses. He is so much fun and does the most exciting stories. If you ever get the chance to host Naz, grab it!!!!
From Phia Welz Pretoria, South Africa Nov 15, 2006 Positive Naz is an energising person who you should take along if you want to go into the great outdoors- I hope to see you in Johannesburg again. |
