Andrew Otto

Andrew is a very smart guy. Our uncrowned sysadmin-king, he is always busy keeping our wonderful community in the air (of course with the help of his great fellow henchmen-sysadmins :) ). I enjoyed living and working with him, and even though he tends to bring too much shit to hiking-trips, he is a great guy to hang out with :)

Señor Otto makes the CS tech team a geek friendly place to be. Whether discussing programming semantics, or playing guitar by the camp fire, never a dull moment.

I hosted Andrew and her friend Laura for a night in FSJ, Canada. Even if it was very short I really enjoyed their company. They are good musicians with open mind and we had good conversations about life and traveling.

Andrew is an endless collection of blissful moments packed in a boredom-proof container (100% recycled materials). Be prepared to laugh with him the way you used to laugh as an 8-year-old. Because if someone can bring you back that spotless thrill of your childhood, that naive curiosity for the world around you, that's, undoubtedly, Mr. Otto.

Andrew is a great guy. We knew each other from work and had many a lunch together. My only regret is that I never got to attend one of his randomly-themed parties.

Andrew is a cheerful guy with a big heart. I couldn't have asked for a better roommate in AK. He's an adventure seeker, a hard worker, and a crazy guitarist. Hearing this guy make up songs on the spot is hilarious. I highly recommend surfing with or hosting Andrew. See you in the desert!

Andrew is a fine young man who is flying around the world making sure your couchsurfing experience goes off without a hitch. He will gladly accept peanuts for payment. He is an avid board gamer and all around fun guy.

Andrew & friends stayed for a couple days and were great guests. Welcome in my abode anytime, any place.

Thanks for taking that same bus.I enjoyed our bike rides in Siem Riep a lot.Your a funny and playfull guy and I'm happy to have met you again in Alaska of all places!

We were so lucky to have Andrew as our first visitor! He is a lovely person and a considerate guest.

So, when he was in Bangkok again, I was really happy to host him for a few more days. Now we had the chance to hang out together more and had good fun. Do get to know Andrew if you have the chance! Among other skills, he is really good at helping you buy a computer and fantastic at washing the dishes :-)

Andrew is a multi-core mac-tacular puppet-master maniac and I am proud to call this smiling and goofy dandy my friend. I enjoy solving complex problems with him. The biggest reason I love this guy though is because of his infectious positivity and endless interest in exploring every moment of life. Thanks for rocking the CSC with me, And-e!

we had a great bike ride, shared a yummy burrito, laughed, cried....it was real. Mr. Otto is a wonderful addition to any home or home-ish place anywhere. your welcome at the cottage anytime!

andrew is a chilled guy with awsome glasses.he has cool experiences to tell and generous mind to get mixed up with different kind of people. great surfer that even beach boys will envy.

This one's all about +attitude (in the non-sissy sense of the word) and some random jolly goofiness. loving every minute of it - smiling all the way along the Yellow Road. He's also into experimenting w food (in the strictly culinary sense)

Andrew is like a refreshing rain in hot summer. I know him for 30 hours only but he is an obvious choice to have on your couch.

Andrew and I got to know each other during the Collective in Thailand. He's extremely dedicated to the CS project. He even took the time to explain in layman's terms how the whole CS website works. Take it from me, he's all heart and definitely an ideal host, guest, and travel companion.

Even though he finally surfed someone else's couch, we managed to meet up and was great fun. Glad he got to know Bob & Kate :) we had a great time chilling at their place, having late night dinner, and i kidnapped him to a friend's party down at Sudirman the next night! How was Jogja and SOlo so far? Keep me updated yaa!!

Due to the activity of the collective and my short permanence there we had not moment of deep personal conversation or interaction but I noticed he's a very nice and cool person. Hope to meet him again with more time.

Andrew is a perfect guest, very warm, friendly and easy going. He's open hearted and enthusiastic, and has a great attitude to couchsurfing. We also had some great jams!

A silly kitty kat who wondered into our jam session n an alleyway in BKK. Fit right in, then realized i know him! famous one, or perhaps not. modest as he is. but yup, from CS collective. Met him first in Pai, Thailand when volunteerin as a slacker. Later we hung out at Chinese Operas, Alleyway Jam sessions, ARt Gallery/Jam Event, and Songkran...

Even though my face makes him vomit, he has made every attempt to play his guitar, read his stories and make me laugh during the lousiest days and hardest times ;) From squirmy wormy to firing names at each other he has introduced me to the world of silly games . He is a nerd(white :)) with a sense of humour and a zest for life beyond his computer ;)

We met in Bangkok and had a nice Songkran together. (no, that's nothing to eat. It's the Thai new year holidays and if you don't get wet you did something wrong ;-) ) Andrew is a very nice and open minded person and I totally enjoyed talking to him.

Met Andrew in Chiang Mai...went book shoppin, ate lots of food, did some rock climbing....headed back to Pai and he worked while I slacked off...then most recently he stumbled upon an alleyway jam session we were havin in BKK...he likes to poke my armpits and wake me up with steamrollers...fruit juices, Chinese Opera and more delicious food, good cat to know, always smiles...have fun up north....

I simply cannot imagine Andrew being anything other than bubbly and happy. He's a fun loving, eternally uplifting type of guy who could chase the blues away from just about any situation.

Andrew is most definitely one hell of an interesting guy! He possesses an eclectic mix of wide-eyed curiosity for all things that surround him, a constant cheeriness that is infectious, boundless energy to explore and a general softness and kindness in all his interactions. I really like this guy! I can only hope for more opportunities for us to get to know one another...from Thailand to Alaska – yeah baby!

Andrew is fun times. He has a brain full of silly games and most of the time you don't even realize you're playing with him. He's also a pretty damn smart guy and knows stuff about puppets and rubies :)

Andrew is a strange dude... but I think that's why I love him so much. I'm glad I had the chance to live with him for a few months in Thailand and definitely look forward to seeing him in Alaska soon!

He always has a smile on his face. He is always curious, generous and considerate. He is always in for fun, exploration or adventure. I think his heart is always one big sunny smile.

i wrote a song about andrew in the style of ancient tuva throat singing, and it goes a little something like this: "Uuuuughghhghhoooouuughgnnnnnnnnngh." (which translates to "andrew is super fun and funny and when we rev up couchsurfing university he will be in charge of the physics/bikes/music department, doo wop doo wop")

He seems like a quiet guy with a good smile on his face always in front of a computer. It's okay though since everyone seems to be in front of computers a lot these days. Hope to meet up on day again along the road of life. In the meantime i hope he's enjoying boating down the Mekong on another crazy adventure!

Andrew is a joy to be around. He can show you great videos of ant-destroying spores, or share tales of ways to taunt sugar ants while sick in Thailand. Amazing guy. Check him out!

He is one of the very few guys on Earth who has a genuinely great Smile and Heart! He will make you feel as one of his close pals the moment you meet him. An out and out Positive and Dynamic person. Even though he had an accident and had ten stitches he was active as ever, boiling with positive enthuciasm!

Andrew is very kind, very sincere, and very fun. But...

No, just kidding. He's awesome and you'd be lucky to sleep on his couch - especially since they sold the black one; it was a little gross.

Had the pleasure of meeting Andrew for a little while in Bangkok, hanging out on Khao San Road having some dinner and tea. He was fun to talk to, and he was a good referee for our drinking game on KSR! Maybe next time we get together I can teach him a little more on the ukulele :)

We wandered around an open air market for a few hours before going geek and hanging out on the laptops for a while back at a guest house. Andrew is smart, open to new things, and one hell of an easy going guy.
I think we briefly talked about String Theory at some point... crazy. Hope to see you again!

I've experienced the ultimate couch surf with this kid for many years in Gloucester, Virginia. Growing up with Andrew only makes me wish now that I took the surf more seriously.

Andrew is a very kind, warm and welcoming host ~ he made all of us a delicious breakfast when I stayed there... :)

I was put through to Andrew by his old flatmate Seth, who had just left town. Andrew was very accomodating and considerate, laidback, warm and easy to get along with. Staying with him was a real pleasure and meant I got to see another side of the city that I would have missed staying downtown. It was also great to meet his faltmate Brett and talk sound and all things SAIC.
I hope I can return the favour in the UK/any where else I may be soon! Thanks Andrew.

I felt instantly cozy with Andrew in Chicago. He is a wonderfully interesting, funny, and playful guy who left me in the hands of his great roomates for the majority of my trip. I felt right at home with Bret and Seth; late night bike rides through Chicago, frisbee in the park, stimulating sounds, love for art and technology, and general silliness from morning till morning. I didn't really want to leave...
Also, if you surf Andrew's pad, bring your game face, because chess in this apartment is not taken lightly.

Andrew and housemates were all great and very accomodating. Very interesting characters, a good home to spend time in. Wicker Park/Bucktown has its million charms as well. A stay with Andrew is highly recommended!

We stayed for a night at Andrew's apartment. He was very excited about having us stay there and was very accomodating to us. His roommates were as nice as he was also.

Staying at Andrew's was a lovely way to start my Chicago experience. Andrew and his roommate Nick provided me with many helpful tools to get around Chicago. I only wish we'd had more time to spend together. Andrew is a decidedly sweet dude (and if you are a musician, you should definitely stay with him--so many fun instruments at his pad!).

I surfed Andrew's couch during the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago. I didn't really see him at all, but from the beginning he was very welcoming and trusting and his roommates were very friendly too! Thanks a lot!

We didn't have much time to talk to Andy while attending his extraplesant dinner party but we hope to make it up in the future when we come through Chicago again. He was a great party host and if you can judge a man by his friends, a great person. Also, I can attest, this man makes the best vegetarian chili I've ever had!

Andrew is wonnnnnnderful. So sweet, so generous, so smart, and he plays a mean rendition of Mario Brothers on the guitar. Ryan and I felt like honored guests in his apartment. And now we're trying to find a good excuse to come back.

Great guy! Get to know him if you can. You won't meet many people as genuine as Andrew.

Andrew has a face that inspires trust. He's a extremely likeable, friendly, and engaging guy who enjoys such activities as baking everything cookies, square dancing, and rocking out to old Nintendo theme songs. There's nothing to dislike.

Andrew is vibrant and very positive. He and Kate stayed with me for 2 nights while they explored Vancouver and I could tell he was trustworthy and honest from the first moment we met. He's very kind & he and Kate were great guests! Either of them is welcome back anytime! Thanks for the cake! It was delicious!!
