I'm a friendly cynic, wear mostly black, and spend way too much time in front of a computer screen. The latter comes with the job - I'm a software engineer at a local medium-sized company, and I do like my job :) I'm an easy guy to get along with, I think. I tend to talk everyone's ear off when one of my interests becomes a conversation's topic, especially music and politics.

Hosting surfers is a good way for me to meet new people, especially those with different (sub-)cultural backgrounds.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music is such a wide field that it's really hard to narrow it down to only a few examples... I like most rock and metal subgenres, especially the ones with a darker vibe. Female fronted Metal is another favourite of mine. Concerning books, I'm a big fan of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. That man simply was a genius. I generally like well written fantasy novels. Apart from that, I read a lot of political, social and historical literature. Some bands I like (in no special order): - Insomnium - Be'lakor - Ghost Brigade - Trail of Tears - Arch Enemy - Draconian Some Authors I like: - Terry Pratchett - Charles Stross - Noam Chomsky - Neil Gaiman
My Interests
Music's a huge part of my life. I almost always listen to music, and I sing and play the guitar and bass (albeit rather badly in the latter cases). My favourite genres are Hardrock and Metal, but I appreciate good music of almost every genre. Apart from that, I'm a computer gamer and (pen&paper-) role player. I spend way too much time sitting at my keyboard saving other worlds ;) Regarding pen and paper role playing games, I'm currently without a group and have not played in a while, but I'd still like to play again some time. Another interest of mine is politics. I'm a member of the german Pirate Party, a small party with a strong focus on civil liberties. Within the classical political spectrum I'd place myself distinctly on the left - in the american system I'd be attributed to the "radical fringe", I guess ;)
