About Me

CURRENT MISSION

How can we help each other to make our time here interesting, fun, educational for us and generations to come...
COUCHSURFING IS NOT A FREE PLACE TO STAY, its a chance to get to meet and know people from different places around the world. If you simple want a place to stya TRY AIRBNB.COM or Jerseyhostel.co.uk

ABOUT ME

a traveller, often spontaneous, sometimes fun, creative, logical, and a true interest in people. Love being in the outdoors, especially the sea, walking up mountains, cycling through forests. Having a good laugh, good conversation and chilling out are good things to be able to do.

Work in IT, but am also a photographer, writer, and do alot of reading into social sciences and alternative healing therapy. Meditation by the beach in the evenings before sunset, and kayaking in the sea when im back home, and play badminton, cycling etc.

Ok, well that was then, and this is now. Since the seriousness of Kidney failure has kicked in and a few times been drastically aware of the thin line between living and being really ill a few times. My outlook has somewhat changed.

More grown up, less time for me than I hoped. I am tad more pragmatic and direct than I used to be, but pretty fair at the same time. I do find myself being overly generous and a bit too helpful at times, but its a side of me I can't change.

I understand that everything has a balance, moderation and timing. Kidney failure has taught me that, and about discipline, (especially if you eat something wrong it could kill you, or if you do too much excercise you really cannot walk the next day).

I suppose not many people will understand how its like to live with a long term chronic illness that makes you skate the fine line between life and death, and where you have to spend 15 hours a week in hospital (not inc travelling to and from), which often leaves you exhausted and dizzy as heck.

But try I do, and being part of Cs, and meeting people, showing them around, sharing goes a long way to putting a smile inside to remember the best the best things in life are experience and people...

PHILOSOPHY

To teach, to learn, to share, to commune...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I teach Photography, Reiki, and like to run workshops on meditation etc, getting people together in an altogether different way...

Recently since being back on Jersey UK, I've organised meetings and have met and greeted CS visitors to the island.

When the weather allows, I take people out in the Kayak around the island, and if they're up to it, can teach Bass fishing.

Heck CS central, where's my ambassador badge !-P

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed a few places in US, Menorca, Holland and been to a few meetings in various places around the world. Interesting way to make new friends everywhere!

ps. I tend not to add friends to my CS profile, as CS seems to be mostly transitional.

Music, Movies, and Books

Pretty varied, Acoustic Music in general,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Learning to live with Kidney failure and dialysis, and not letting the illness stop me from doing the things I dream of in life. The illness has been my greatest teacher, and the people that have come into my life the actors and inspirers.

Climbing Up Mt Warning after being ill. Friendships and connections, that move you and change your view and teach you something new...

Teach, Learn, Share

Reiki, Buddhist Philosophy, Photography, Kayaking, Bass Fishing,

What I Can Share with Hosts

One thing I can do, which not many are able to do on the island is to take people out on kayak tours on the islands (weather and experience depending). As Jersey has the 4th Highest tidal movement in the world, one needs to be experienced and mindful when out on the ocean, and this is something I've been doing for 15+ years.

I've noticed that recently, that many of the new people to CS seems to treat it as a FREE PLACE TO STAY. NO CS is not a replacement for a hotel or hostel. If you write a SHORT REQUEST about yourself and CAN'T BE BOTHERED to write anything about yourself on YOUR PROFILE, how am I supposed to get a sense of trust of who you are and how you're like????

SO...IF YOU WANT A PLACE TO STAY CHECK OUT www.jerseyhostel.co.uk OR USE AIRBNB.COM... if you want to make a connection, and the time and effort to get to know someone do write. I may not be able to host you, but WILL SPEND the TIME and EFFORT if schedule / dialysis visits allow to show you around the best I can.
