About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Winemaking all the time!

ABOUT ME

I used to live in New Orleans, and decided to make a big change and move to California. While there, I fell in love with wine, because a sommelier, and now I'm making wine!

(A secret/not secret: I enjoy singing karaoke!)

I am gluten intolerant. So no wheat, barley, rye or beer. :( But I like to think that means more bubbly and more shellfish.

PHILOSOPHY

Just got the kick in the pants reminding me that I only have one life to live, so it better be epic.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been couchsurfing and hosting for quite a few years now and especially love it when you stay with someone (or they stay with you) and you're totally on the same level. Some of my dearest friends are people I met through Couchsurfing.

---

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've done a ton of Couchsurfing in Mexico and Guatemala, as well as in England and the U.S. I was on the back of a 1976 Yamaha XS 500 with my boyfriend at the time and we went from Seattle to New Orleans to Mexico City (technically all the way down to Oaxaca) and then got turned back because swine flu broke out while we were in the D.F.

The best thing about Couchsurfing: Making new friends
The worst thing about Couchsurfing: The day you have to say bye to your new friends.

----

Interests

I am really into just about everything. I like all sorts of food, crafts, travel, music, culture, etc. I'm just as happy to go climb a (small) mountain as I am to hang out and do my nails. If you have a hobby/interest that you like sharing, I am totally into trying anything once (except for eating eyeballs).

I also love, love, love all sorts of modes of transportation. Fast manual cars, airplanes, on foot, bicycle, you name it. I took an introductory flying lesson in July 2012, and I used to drive a motorcycle until I was hit by a car and had to be on crutches for eight months. :( So now I am a little more tame.

---

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: The music in the streets of New Orleans on Mardi Gras day. And I LOVE karaoke. Too much. Otherwise, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, Ted Leo + the Pharmacists, Bjork, Neil Young, YES, Katy Perry, Die Antwoord,

Movies: I've enjoyed a lot of David Lynch, old movies from the 40s-60s. I know there are more, I need to think about it.

TV: Dr. Who, which is unsurprising because it is all about traveling through time and space. Also American Horror Story, True Blood, Game of Thrones, House and Bones.

Books: Anything by Jane Austen, Douglas Adams, and I will add more later.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got to teach social media in Rwanda to Rwandan PhDs + OB/GYNs and college students.

---

Teach, Learn, Share

Jack of trades: Little bit of knitting, cooking, computer stuff, writing, fixing things, cocktailing and yadda yadda.

I would be happy to cook something from New Orleans for you if you're interested.

--

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am old school CS! You need some help hanging curtains? Want to cook dinner together? Need someone to keep you company at an event! I'm very good at fixing things and being a team player.
