About Me
ABOUT ME
I am an inked up British Columbian now living in Montreal, Quebec!
I love TRAVEL most obviously ( :p ), but also like music, art, crafts, plants, animals, dancing (with and without hula hoop), reading, conversations, learning, teaching, having fun, exploring, being in nature, etc etc etc.....
Couchsurfing created some of my favourite memories during an USA\Europe adventure back in 2009/2010, driving across Canada in 2012, and more recently travelling in Asia-Pacific (2024). There is no way I could have had so many deep and authentic experiences in so many cities without the people I've met through this site!!!
PHILOSOPHY
The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up ~Mark Twain (can you tell I'm in health care)
WHY I'M ON COUCHSURFING
I like the vibe
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Initially I was happy to build "couch karma" with everyone, even though nobody wanted to stay in my hometown of Langley, BC.
Spent a year living out of a backpack in 2009, was hosted by many and had many amazing experiences.
Berlin let me give back and host in the infamous End of the World and the Cinema (crazy shared living situations) for 2010. I was also a nomadic ambassador back when those existed.
When I am traveling, I am rarely a one-night surfer. I like to get to know people, but if you are busy I can also entertain myself! I occasionally attend meetings as well, so if you like to go to CS meetups in your area I am usually down to come along.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have hosted and surfed with quite literally hundreds of people at this point - I consider myself lucky to have been a part of this community as far back as about 2009. I feel like a CS veteran at this point.
Hosting in Montreal is a new experience for me. I have only hosted in giant WG's, but now I live alone for the first time in 16 years. For this reason I will be very selective about who I am comfortable hosting, and I have a STRONG PREFERENCE FOR FEMALE SOLO TRAVELLERS. I am very grateful to everyone who hosted me last year, and I want to give back to my community, but in a way I feel comfortable. I know this is cliché, but please include your favourite Star Trek TNG quote or just 'there... are... four... lights!' so I know you have read this far into my profile...

Music, Movies, and Books
This would take ages to type out fully...
Movies range widely but I generally like sci fi, fantasy, documentaries, comedies, some B horror, dark stuff, art house, anything that makes me feel something including pain - honorable mentions include the Neverending Story (childhood favourite), what we do in the shadows, gegen die wand, the evil dead series, ghost in the shell... latest thing I fell in love with was Poor Things
Books also range hugely. I'll read pretty much anything but I am primarily a fiction fan. Unsurprisingly, I like sci fi here as well, classics, some beatnik (not all), fantasy, faerie smut (my latest obsession), sometimes I will even read the instruction manuals for things. Some of my favourites include His Dark Materials series (my childhood fave), the first 6 dunes, wheel of time series, Contact, ACOTAR, and stranger in a strange land (I love Heinlein)
Music may be the most varied of all... my spotify shuffle mode is jarring to say the least, but some stuff include:
rock, indie, folk, soul, 80's new wave, disco, classic rock, reggae, hip hop, classical, oldies, breaks, DnB, dubstep, house, chill/trip hop, random synth noises, some jazz, + all others I've forgotten or can't assign genres to. A few bands close to my heart over the years are radiohead, tool, and the decemberists. Currently listening to a lot of electronic music
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hard to pick one thing... "Amazing" is relative, no?
I did try out hitchhiking by myself for the first time in Albania, which worked out pretty well. Would recommend.
Also learned to scuba dive in Thailand and now I am hopelessly obsessed. I love the ocean so much.
Teach, Learn, Share
I enjoy crafting type things, so:
crochet, knitting
hula hoop making and cool moves
sewing basics, beadwork basics
physio stuff I guess but I don't want to work when I'm not at work...
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can teach the above mentioned things, plus I can share my experiences/tips about living in the places I've lived and\or travelled. I don't really cook but I love to eat, so can share meals in that sense!
Do NOT expect me to cook for you as a host. Neither of us would enjoy that. I also have no microwave but have a small oven and stovetop for heating things.
