Groups I Belong ToCouch Information
No couch currently available for surfing. I live walking distance to downtown Potland: 20 blocks to the bridge. There are 3 buses 1-3 blocks away and the fareless square MAX train is 10 blocks away. I'm right in the middle of 'self'employed hipsterville, near some of the best neighbourhoods in town (Irvington, Laurelhurst, Hollywood, Lloyd Center, Eastbank Design) with the best parks, galleries, cultural centers, restaurants, cooperatives and collectives, spas, community gardens, old artsy OR movie theatres, coffee shops, Velveteria museum).
***
I have a separate unit in an old P-town house, second floor, with nice views of the city, relatively quiet area. The downstairs neighbour plays loud TV and Clear Channel bought the wall across the street and lit it up with more electricity than I use in my entire flat.
***
I have for your use: 1 fold-out chair, 2 couches, 2 camping mattress, 1 large blow-up mattress, a futon and a spring bed (the answer to "Do you have fibromyalgia?" is yes). All are comfortable, all have bedding. Understaying your welcome is one week for 1 or 2 people, 3 days for 3 or 4. I'm not planning on any travels (a first for me!), so my couch(es) are definitely free!
***
on the shelves next to my door is lots of terrorist information to peruse and use: brochures, maps, coupons, fotos, etc.
***
no smoking and no shoes. yay!
actually I just inherited two CATS in July, so I have 6 pairs of Polish papucs to protect your feet Friends (11)

Personal Descriptioni'm already bored with this page. I prefer the clicky mappy parts of the profile-building. text fields remind me of applications. ugh.How I Participate in CS2too much! jeezum crow, can't I just relax and stop trying to save the world?!? That's a rhetorical question. I naturally gravitate toward the unique, funny, clever, open-minded, but I enjoy learning from all types. My best friends tend to be Libra, Scorpio, Capricorn and Aquarius, but I love the challenge of Cancer and Taurus. Debate is delightful! Listening is lovely! People who feel at home and respect the home at the same time are my type. Enlightened humans honour differences and love diversity. It's easy to be sensitive to dispositions and intuition when people are genuine and self-confident. I think I've always felt most comfortable with East Europeans-- their cynicism, resiliency and emotional depth resonate with me. Face-saving in Korea was hard for me to conceptualise, but I dig ancestoral piety.
UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I reached enlightenment on my walk to see Sofia present her fantastic movie, 9-11 Mysteries. Now I have to learn to put it into practise. From Allan Andre New York, United States Nov 9 Positive This lady is a great host and counter-cultural shipmate. Very kind, excitable, and genuine.
From Greg Piggot London, United Kingdom Jul 23 Positive Crystal's funny. She talks to her cats in Hungarian. She talks to cars in the street. Not the drivers, the actual cars.
I'm really very grateful to Crystal. She made me welcome in her small apartment for two whole weeks while i searched for and bought a second hand motorcycle and prepared it, and myself, for a long trip.
On the morning I left Portland, she bought me a doughnut with caramel and bacon on it. Thanks Crystal. x
From Margaret Cunningham Chicago, United States Jul 20 Positive Very positive!
Crystal is, like, abusurdly generous and welcoming, and very fun. I arrived in Portland with some trepidation about moving there, but a weekend at C-ska's was a perfect and helpful introduction. And if this weren't enough, she can teach you a few children's songs about honeybees and washing your hands.
From Cara Stephens Plano, United States Jun 24 Positive Crystal is an abundance of information on Ralph, Alice in Wonderland, politics, bike couture, and cats! She is incredibly welcoming and kind. She took me on my first bike ride around Portland during Sunday Walkways, and made me feel confident that I'm not going to die on a bike. She is good people, and I hope to stay with her again in the future. I highly recommend C-Ska. xoxo
From ARKADASH Largo, United States Apr 12 Positive I'd like to thank Crystal for her kind hospitality. I throughly enjoyed staying at her cozy home six days. I'm telling with all my heart, she is a really gracious host and wonderful lady, and I hope to reciprocate before long. Again, I really appreciate Crystal made for me while I stayed in her place. She made me feel like I'm at my own home. I will always remember her kind hospitality. All the best with her life. I hope we may meet again. May her days be sunny and beautiful always!
From MANOO Montreal, Canada Jan 28 Positive Ska hosted me for a couple nights in last august when I was in POrtland for a wedding in my foreign family,
It was great she's easy going and friendly welcoming and a perfect host!!!
We had a good time at the bite of oregon festival where we saw Patty Smith in concert great show 60 years and rock on !!

From Kherry1bear Arcata, United States Oct 15, 2007 Positive Crystal was a very generous host who was fun to spend time with! I liked her and so will you. Highest recommendations - a neat Couchsurfer and soul!!
From Ovid New Paltz, United States Aug 13, 2007 1st experience: very positive
We hung out, had breakfast, went to a rally then to my other host's house, hung out there, went on a walk.
Second experience: positive.
I stayed with Crystal, good times, no incident. Watched a Qatsi movie, she taught me the basics of korean.
Third experience: didn't go so well.
I stayed again. Met another couch surfer in town, we hoped to get a glass of water from Crystals. Crystal was unreachable, but I thought back to first experience. Crystal asked me to leave that night. I apologized and left amidst the rain. lesson learned.
From Tyler Loyd Pittsburgh, United States May 27, 2007 Positive Crystal took me in, directed me about the city and really helped me out when I needed it! Tyler-tested, couchsurfing-approved!
From Robert Berry Dallas, United States May 19, 2007 Positive To have any conceptualizationry of Crystal's hospitality you have to go back in time, way back, to the B.C. era when hospitality was the supreme virtue. She is pleasant, kind, patient, and a whole list of other poitive adjectives. I strongly recommend staying here. During the depression Hobos developed a written-only language to mark the way (my hypothesis on ancient cave drawings, btw) and to indicate where is what. I'd have to leave cat-like figure on a tree in her front yard. Footnote: http://www.slackaction.com/signroll.htm
Thanks again crystal.
From BATTLECOW Alexandria, United States Mar 6, 2007 Positive Hey! She's my sister~~ what do you want me to say? ;)
From Marisa Pereira San Francisco, United States Mar 6, 2007 Positive Crystal received me with a smile on a rainy day at her door and did not blink when I asked her to drive a stranger home. It is a long story but the bottom line is, Crystal was helpful, giving, upbeat, generous and shining. Her world travels did her a lot of good. I learned a lot with Crystal in just a few hours we stayed together. The world would do well with more angels like her.
From Charity Hoffman New York, United States Jan 9, 2007 Positive Crystal's mom is my "Oregon Mom" so I guess that makes us Oregon sisters :) Weathering Thanksgiving together is enough to make anyone family-- especially when it includes baking oodles of cranberry bread and listening to Willie Nelson's Christmas music and teaching a 2 year old colors together! Crystal's a darling gal, with a brilliant memory and a whole lot to teach you. I'm glad we crossed paths!
From this is jillian Sydney, Australia Nov 7, 2006 Positive this chick totally rocks. crystal caught me up on american politics, offered me maps, the key to her place, and a comfy bed to sleep in! hooray for people like crystal! when i first showed up she made me tea and when i left she packed me a bag of spring mix and a gladware container of mac salad! how rockin' is that? very. oh, and crystal's place has the best bathroom ever. i would seriously live in there. thanks again, crystal!
