Personal DescriptionCurrently I'm interning on a small organic farm called Plum Forest Farm on Vashon Island in Washington State. It's great! Hard work, but it's amazing.
I traveled for a year between October 2006 and Oct. 2007. I did some sight-seeing around Europe, some safari-ing around Africa and then a bunch of wwoofing to pursue my passionate interest in organic food and farming. I'm back in Seattle now, settling back in a little bit, dealing with a bit of culture shock and trying not to get too depressed with the sad state of the nation. I hope next year to be traveling/couchsurfing/freelancing again and some wwoofing next year probably.
Before taking a year off, I had been working in an office for too long (for 9-feckin years) and as of July 2006 I quit that damn corporate job and decided it is time to go and see the world. Traveling was an absolute amazing adventure, just unbelievable. Couchsurfing has added so much to the experience. I've made some new excellent friends to add to my group of great long-time friends that have been very supportive and encouraging, I don't know what I'd be doing without them.
My "professional" occupation has been web/graphic designer. I definitely enjoy web design and like to teach people about the web, html, flash, etc. I'm sticking to freelance work due to the flexibility and freedom it allows, and I am open to pro-bono work to help out worthy causes.CouchSurfing ExperienceI have couchsurfed quite a bit so far and all were incredibly great experiences. It truly is inspiring to meet and become friends with people in the couchsurfing network. Every one has been very generous. The concept is awesome and hope to surf even more couches in the near future! One of these days, I hope to be as generous of a host as I have experienced in traveling!Interestsmusic, cooking, hiking, biking, playing drums, reading, yoga, farming, gardeningPhilosophyI live to enjoy life, enrich myself and my surroundings, eat good veggies and have a good, but responsible existence.
My travel philosophy is to be spontaneous and venture on a loose idea of a plan. Some of the best things that have ever happened have been as a result of not making plans.Music, Movies, BooksI have a myspace profile that lists a lot of my interests. I'm also now on facebook, but not sure how to link to that yet ... Types of People I enjoyI enjoy people who have traveled, or who live overseas and have a broader, open-minded world-view than most Americans. People who enjoy good conversation and talk about more than just drinking, cars and sports. I'm not a big drinker and do NOT enjoy people who get drunk or drink a lot. Teach, Learn, ShareI really enjoy talking and teaching people about good food, organic farming and the web, about internet technologies and what a great communications medium it is. I love helping people design, build and implement web sites (and would be glad to assist with the CS site if I ever have time!!!)One Amazing Thing I've Seen or DoneHiked the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim in one day. According to a lot of people, quiting my job and traveling for 9 months is pretty amazing too ... and it is! but anyone can do that and enjoy it!Opinion on the CouchSurfing.com ProjectThe couchsurfing site definitely makes it easy to find people to meet and there are so many people willing to give advice. It has made traveling into much more of an adventure!Locations TraveledTRAVELED: Belgium, Botswana, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Namibia, Netherlands, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, The Bahamas, United Kingdom, United States, Zambia LIVED: United States WANTS TO GO: Egypt References

From Adrián Puga (kamalain/cyborg) Cancun, Mexico Dec 1, 2007 Positive Steve's a great person: funny, easygoing, intelligent, creative, with nice topics to talk about... i've found out he's kind of my colleague and has things in common with me. We spent a great time in Malaga and i'm really happy to have hosted him for my very first time within CS. After an incredible safari in South Africa, he came back to Malaga. We had a lot of fun in Granada with our lovely CS host Lilie!!! We wwoofed together at an organic farm in Cabo de Gata (Andalucia, Spain) during April-May 2007. He's my best CS friend. We've shared lots of stuff together: goat cheese, life experiences, darbouka jamming while looking at the Mediterranean, etc, etc, etc.... Hope to see u in Cancun for Christmas and/or New Year. Hasta luego, bro..

From Tristan Schmurr Luxembourg, Luxembourg Jan 7, 2007 Positive He's one of those techies who take all their stuff with them - like I do - and a very nice person!
