Groups I Belong ToCouch Information
Couch Available: Yes Preferred Gender: Any Max Surfers Per Night: 1
Shared Sleeping Surface: No Shared Room: DependsSofa in front room.
During weekdays it is possible that I may walk thru the room in order to go to work, but it's a big room and you're not likely to be disturbed.
If you're really shy, I've got an airbed that I can inflate and put in the dining room which is nice and private. There's just me and a cactus.
I've attached a photo of the couch, but there's also an airbed (so possiblilty of two people staying).
There used to be an actual bed, but the paperwork monster escaped my office and invaded the spareroom :(
I'm about a 20min walk from the main nightlife area.
A 5min walk to the local highstreet.
There is a regular bus service from outside my front door that goes right into the heart of Birmingham which takes 10mins (but it's quicker to walk during rushhour!)
I don't smoke, and I don't have pets.
Birmingham has all the normal city type attractions, museums / art galleries / Starbucks etc
There are also some more oddball things around the area
a pen museum, Cadburys World, canals (more than Venice as they are so proud of pointing out, and I've a kayak if you fancy exploring them)
My work schedule is very higgledy-piggledy so some days I'll be at home to show people around, other days I'll be at the office.
I go off hiking or kayaking a lot at weekends but am happy to put that on hold if someone wants showing around the area.
You can't really say how long is too long to stay, once I actually checked myself into a hotel after 15mins because I just couldn't stand being around the person! Another person came for a weekend and stayed a month. Friends (8)

CouchSurfing ExperienceMost memorable was from a "rival" scheme, where someone left their medieval suit of armour !!!! in my bath which left the tub very scratched (they were going to some re-enactment at nearby Warwick Castle)InterestsMotorsport / hiking / Sailing / Kayaking
I love the outdoors and the ocean, which is why I decided to live in a city that is about as far away from the mountains and oceans as it's possible to get in this country!PhilosophyThe world is out to get you, so make the most of your time while it's not lookingMusic, Movies, BooksDisaster movies are my #1 favourite, followed closely by Sci-Fi.
If there was a movie about aliens driving fast cars to save the world from an exploding volcano then I'd probably be a big fan.
I also really love foreign movies by the greats such as kurosawa and Almodóvar, or low budget indie movies.Teach, Learn, ShareBirmingham has more miles of canals than venice - or so the tourist office claim.
To get an unusual view of Brum, I can take you out in a canoe and give you a ducks eye view of the city. One Amazing Thing I've Seen or DoneI'm quite proud of my skills at corrupting my pretty little goddaughter who wanted to be a princess into a climbing petrolhead :)Locations TraveledTRAVELED: India, Spain, United Arab Emirates LIVED: Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom References
From JSWMI6 Hinckley, United Kingdom Nov 22 Positive An interesting type who always has a story to share. Never a dull moment on a night out.
From Prince Rosa Birmingham, United Kingdom Oct 25 Positive Tony is a funny guy!
From Bridget Brown Brisbane, Australia Oct 15 Positive Tony's an amazing bloke. Kind, friendly, giving. He made me feel totally relaxed while I was staying at his place. This was my first experience couchsurfing and Tony made it one to remember. A genuinly good guy. :)
From Andrew Hyslop London, United Kingdom Jun 28 Positive Tony is a top bloke, he met me at the train station (having run to the station to make it on time after his car was blocked in by a van) and took me back to his flat. He has had a huge range of experiences and interests, and we ended up chatting late in to the night. The only shame was that I only had one day so we couldn't go enjoy the countryside around Birmingham.
From Frank Gu Shanghai, China Jun 17 Positive I successfully began my UK journey and first surfing in Birmingham and was lucky to make a new friend who is enthusiastic, reliable and capable.Tony is also a strong climber.I hope he'll be able to reach any peaks of his life.
From Troy Irvine Kingston, Norfolk Island Mar 29 Positive Tony is a fantastic guy. He offered me the highest degree of hospitality and in a city i didnt think i would have a good time Tony showed me a great time. Tony has a very good heart and is kind and interesting. But make sure you organise it early hes a popular stop on the couchsurfing route. |
