Groups I Belong ToCouch Information
Couch Available: Maybe Preferred Gender: Any Max Surfers Per Night: 3
Shared Sleeping Surface: No Shared Room: DependsI share the house with my uncle who's a bit odd, but as long as you leave him to his space, everything is fine. To avoid explaining about couchsurfing, which he wouldn't understand, I just say that a mate is visiting. He's gotten used to visitors, so its not a problem. You'll have a futon in the lounge to yourself (or possibly with other couchsurfers) and there is room on the floor for another. Its preferable if you have a sleeping bag (to decrease washing sheets after 1 or 2 nights), but if not, no worries - there is a duvet and/or sleeping bags here.
Please read the requirements - nothing too complicated, but as there are alot of requests, if you follow them, you're done better that half of the requests we get ;)
Requirements:
* Please put the word PECKHAM in your message, so I know you've read this
* Plan on staying more than 1 night. Plan on arriving before 9.30pm on the first night. Otherwise, I might as well be a hostel.
* Put your mobile number in your message. If you do not have a mobile, I will NOT host you. Sorry, there have been entirely too many troubles in the past because of this.
* Keep in mind that it takes a minimum of 2 hours from the arrival time of your flight (any of the London airports) to our our flat (and that's if you don't have luggage and don't have to wait on the trains). Typical times are around 3 hours. If your flight arrives after 7pm, its probably better than you get a hostel or find someone closer to the airport the first night. Unless there's a cs meeting that evening, then perhaps we can meet there.
* Check my google calendar for availability and do not request a couch more than 4 weeks in advance. Note that if we have just hosted or are about to host, we will be very unlikely to agree to host you.
* We've had a few bad experiences with people under 25. If you are under 25, you're going to need to do a lot of convincing. The email and/or your profile need to make us really think that we want to host you.
* Although we have a max of 3 guests, unless you are a family, or there is a big cs meet for the weekend, we are very unlikely to host 3 friends.
* Please keep in mind that the room you'll be in is our living area and I often need to work on the computer in this room. Please try to keep your things tidy!
I live with my girlfriend (Marzena), our cat (Kitka), and my uncle (Tom), near Queens Road Peckham station (Zone 2 South London). Its about 8 minutes from London Bridge and 20 minutes from London Victoria on the mainline (above ground) suburban trains (NOT UNDERGROUND). Note that Pre-pay Oyster cards DO NOT work on mainline services, but the day/weekly/monthly travelcards will. Buses 36, 436, 171, 177, 136, and 185 will also work.
I've hosted quite a bit of the years, and have decided to limit the number of guests, so probably only 2 or 3 guests/month. If you're new, you may want to see http://wiki.couchsurfing.com/en/How_to_write_a_CouchRequest for hints on writing a request. Note that Londoners get many, many requests, so 1 or 2 lines are not going to get a good response. Last minute for a night if your hitching or stranded may also be possible.
Any guests are always welcome to join in whatever we're doing, but we understand its London and lots to see :) Peckham is a bit dodgy, but has a worse reputation than reality, and there's a couple of nice pubs within walking distance. Its about 30 minutes to Charing Cross, which is supposed to be the centre of London. We generally go to sleep around mid-night.
Wireless Internet is available - setting below if you wish to configure before arrival.

From Emma Olmi London, United Kingdom Nov 20 Positive We’ve met @ HC Xmas meeting in London in 2005
Even though I didn't talk a lot with Patrick, it was a pleasure and I liked what I’ve met. He is definitely a polite, friendly, really funny, easygoing and interesting guy (still not understand where are u from ahahah)! I hope met u again someday in some part of the globe, and don’t forget Portugal okay???! Take care and all the best!!! p.s: u disappeared on the club.. bad bad guy :p
From PETE0PETE0LAND Helsinki, Finland Oct 13 Positive He is the worst hitchhiker ever...I will update this info when I meet a worse one...so probably not in the near future...
From Serafin González Sitges, Spain Sep 22 Positive I had never been a english person who love the spanish wine as Patrick. He is a good guy, who like to hear your histories and tell his. Thank you for your hospitality. // No había conocido a ningún inglés al que le encantase tanto el vino español como a Patrick. Es un buen chico, que le gusta escuchar tus historias y contar las suyas. Gracias por vuestra hospitalidad.
From Paolo Cecchetto Torino, Italy Sep 4 Positive Patric is a really nice guy. Very quiet until ho drink a couple of ciders. After that he becomes smiling and chatty. He was a lifesaver for me and his hospitality was superb!
From Marzena Godlewska London, United Kingdom Sep 3 Positive My lovely boyfriend. Very hard not to love him guys ;-)
From SKYE HIGH Brisbane, Australia Aug 7 Positive Sorry this is so late, I just realised that I haven’t written you a reference.
Patrick is the most amazing host that you could imagine. I called him in a stressed out moment and he came to my rescue.
He took me to a local Irish pub for a lock-in (a new concept for me). We then went to a few couch surfing gatherings during the weekend and had a ball.
I unfortunately had to complete a job application while I was there. He gave me the facilities, time and space to be able to complete this. Without his help I would never have been able to get the application completed. So thank you so much.
I would highly recommend meeting Patrick if you get the chance. He is a wonderful individual who is so giving and trusting. He has a wealth of experience that he can share with you.
I felt like his home was my own.
Thanks again and sorry this is so late. I only just realised.
From Ernest Bohm Madrid, Spain Jul 10 Positive Patrick's couch was my first experience as a couch surfer. And I confirm all the expectation about Couch Surfing. Patrick and Marzena are now my good friends and I hope that soon I can host you guys here in our place. Now it is my turn to offer you both a glass of wine here in Madrid!!! You are always welcome!! Thanks for everything!!!
From Sandrine Stresser Madrid, Spain Jul 6 Positive Patrick and Marzena hosted me and my boyfriend Junior in London for a weekend. They were amazing hosts! Took us to watch the final EuroCup’s game in a pub and then we met couple of their friends. We also had a nice talk drinking a good wine and we could figure out their wonderful love history! Maybe you guys can write a book or something, ‘cause a bike doesn’t break up without a good reason ;-)
I hope that we can meet again. And of course, we’re waiting for you guys here in Madrid!!
From Tara Arntsen Düsseldorf, Germany Jun 25 Positive Staying with Patrick & Marzena made for an amazing trip! They are so easy to hang out with. We enjoyed watching some truly impressive football, a couple great CS gatherings, and London's Naked Bike Ride all in just one short weekend. Thank you both so much! Hope to see you again; maybe I can come WWOOF for you in Poland :)
From QPRFAN Cordoba, Spain Jun 22 Positive Have known Patrick ages. He's a funny guy who is good to know and is into his cycling and guinness.
From Dave Crossland Bournemouth, United Kingdom Jun 8 Positive Patrick is great to chat to - I've met him a couple of times at CS gatherings with maplefanta and flohfish, and he's always so relaxed and happy so its always cool hanging out with him :)
From Geoff Greig Antwerpen, Belgium Jun 5 Positive Patrick is a cool guy, very fun to talk to and drink beer with (actually, that's I think all we did). Thanks for hosting me and the invite out to the CS "no pub quiz" gathering.
From MAINDUSH Oaxaca, Mexico May 30 Positive Patrick and his girlfriend Marzena were very nice with me in London. We had a lot of conversation and very good time drinking some vodka. I rerally enjoyed stayed at his place. I hope to see you again here in Mexico!!
From Abel McLawhorn Greensboro, United States May 29 Positive Excellent host! He made breakfest for me. Best coffee I ever had. Extremely nice and thoughtfull.
From Darryl Goodwin New Orleans, United States May 2 Positive Hosting Patrick and Marzena was a great experience. We had a chance to see a little of New Orleans and fit in some exercise as well. They enlightened me new insight on couchsurfing and even came bearing gifts.
From Kuntal Dharamshi London, United Kingdom Apr 9 Positive Need I say more than what has already been said about Patrick:) He has a gregareous and charming personality and his smile is completely contagious! I've met him on several occasions in London apart from the one we planned to actualize - hitchhiking!
From Heather Hummel Effort, United States Mar 19 Patrick is an awesome person. He accepted my request to surf with him. However there were circumstances involved. One day soon I am sure we will meet.
From Ricardo & Ana Lamego Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal Mar 13 Positive We finally understood why Patrick is referred with so much praise from his friends: he's always smiling and nothing seems to affect his good mood =)
Had a great time with him, sad we didn't meet the other times we've been to London!
From Mario Anzurio Parra Batrez Austin, United States Mar 10 Positive was wondering if should I write any comment at all - we had a li'l conversation about copy/pasted comments =P. I met him during my winter trip in Europe. Firstly in London, where he make me owe him a pint. Then, in Warsaw at the WinterCamp (and still owing him a pint). And finally in Krakow where I had the chance to pay the pint off!. It was so cool to meet you, Patrick, hope to see you soon. Now, here it comes the copy/pasted part of the comment: He's a really friendly and talkative guy, always smiling and ready to meet more and more people, no problem trusting him. =P
From Nuno Magalhães Porto, Portugal Mar 6 Positive Patrick's cool and easygoing, i hosted him and Rene for two days. Unfortunately i had an exam coming up so i only saw them one night but i assume they surfed my couch ;-)
From Florian Spisla Goldau, Switzerland Mar 3 Positive Thanks for letting me stay on your couch/bed! And thanks a lot for introducing me to the London CS scene! I really enjoyed our talks on travelling over breakfast and maybe you even convinced me to visit the US (by forcing me to have a look at your pictures :-)
From Alain Sato London, United Kingdom Feb 25 Positive What can I say?? Patrick is a very cool guy.. we met several times in picnics, pubs, etc in London, and in Porto.
I love this guy. .he is the proper English Gentleman.. calm, nice, polite, generous, always willing to help, open minded, caring, warm, in other words.. a fantastic lad!
Lov u man!
From Shady Sabet Ramallah, West Bank Feb 21 Positive I met Patrick during the first CS poker night and, even though we were more concentrated on cards than each others, I'm now pretty sure he's the kind of person you can start to know just from the blink of his eyes. His aggressive poker style is the completely opposite of what I felt from his warm smile.
I definitely hope to see him again in some CS meeting.
From Rahul Thomas Chennai, India Feb 14 Positive Patrick's reputation of course preceded him and I've since had the pleasure of meeting him time and again. He comes with the most disarming smile (which probably helps him get away with murder :P), a ready laugh and a lot of very interesting conversation. We've even run into each other by accident in Berlin. The embodiment of couchsurfing, this free, backpacking spirit puts himself out for anybody at the drop of a hat without the slightest hesitation and its no wonder he is so loved by the London community (or anybody anywhere for that matter). The world has a lot to learn from him.
I look forward to more good times in your company Patrick.
From Sandro Vicente London, United Kingdom Feb 14 Positive Very good bloke! Kind and very sympathetic.
From MEGATRAVELER Gatun, Panama Feb 5 Positive Surfed with Patrick for one night in Bodegraven, Netherlands.
He brought Zywiec beer directly from POLAND as requested by our hosts.
We had a brilliant chat over beer!
Patrick has a great sense of humor and is very open and friendly.
Thank you!
From Olivier Michiels Wellington, New Zealand Jan 21 Positive Had a good time over there. Am now far far away in New Zealand. You're welcome to come for a visit :-)
From Kaire Kartau Kose, Estonia Jan 20 Positive Veeeery cheerful and talkative person=)
From Patryk Ruszkowski Melbourne, Australia Jan 13 Positive patrick is a man on a mission. and its a pretty cool mission too, so yeah, it was good having him over, definitely. we gave him a crashcourse in "the office" and other numerous mockumentaries, all in all a very educational evening for all parties. have fun with london traffic! :)
From Niels and Linda de Lange Bodegraven, Netherlands Jan 12 Positive We had a good time, and we loved the Polish beer, thanks!! Hope we meet again in Londen! :D
From Teva Mcmillan Boulder, United States Dec 9, 2007 Positive Help me buy a place ticket home. Flight I wanted would not take my card. Was able to use paypal to pay him for the ticket, but still a huge deal to me.
From Jörgen Persson Lund, Sweden Nov 29, 2007 Positive Patrick reminded me of a school boy enjoying a practical joke -- but I never figured out why. Hey!!! What's that on my back? :-)
Seriously... he is a nice guy.
From SABAZIOS Warsaw, Poland Nov 29, 2007 Positive I met Patrick in summer CS party in Warsaw. Intelligent and polite guy, very peaceful, always smiling - I can't imagine him angry or smth ;-))) Last time we travelled together to Vilnus, Patrick proved himself to be a great companion :-) He is also trying to learn polish, which is admirable (polish is rather difficult), so I know, that his favourite "practice sentence" in polish is "stół z powyłamywanymi nogami". Try it with him if you meet him :-)))
From Antonio Gorreri Parma, Italy Nov 28, 2007 Positive Patrick is a very kind and relaxed person, but also a good partymate. We had some interesting chats and for sure the next time we will be in the same town we will meet again now that finally we know each other :-) See you soon
From AKVILIUTE Vilnius, Lithuania Nov 27, 2007 Positive Whenever I remember Patrick, he was always smiling:) You could really feel that he is such a warm and friendly person:) He is great Lithuanian folk dances partner as well;)I think he can even teach it now:)Im definitely going to Warsaw to party again with Warsaw's party animals, so cya soon:)))
From Viktorija Rak Madrid, Spain Nov 27, 2007 Positive Patrick is very nice person who helped me in organizing the brunch on Sunday morning. Maybe we didn't have time to talk more, but he made me a compliment I will never forget:) I hope to see him in Warsaw soon!
From Julia Lukashova Warsaw, Poland Nov 27, 2007 Positive We were in the same team with Patrick and had a lot of fun exploring Vilnius together and asking for telephone number Spanish girls:- ))) And he was really supportive when I couldn’t find my host at 4 o’clock in the morning:- ) Hope to see you in Warsaw soon!
From KOOLKARMA Berlin, Germany Nov 26, 2007 Positive Patrick is a fun person and easy-going/relaxed. He has a nice sense of humour and you can tell he enjoys good company. It's a pity I didn't get to talk to him too much, but I am sure we will meet again:-)
From ARTLITE Warsaw, Poland Nov 26, 2007 Positive Patrick was a guest to my car as we drove to Vilnius gathering in Nov 2007. He was my partner in crime. Calm, trustworthy and easy-going. Fall asleep before him.
From Chaitanya Dongre Enschede, Netherlands Nov 20, 2007 Positive Patrick is a really cool guy and a wonderful person that I got to know when he hosted me in London....so calm, relaxed, composed, but yet very funny. He can make you laugh like crazy without even moving a line on his own face....amazing sense of humour...and moreso the way he gets it across to you...we had nice walks across London, met other HC Londoners, and partyed almost all night long....I must say he's at his brilliant best after a few pints of the great guiness...aint I not right Pat ? and inspite of all the partying he came with me to catch an all-london (chelsea-arsenal) premier league game complete with fish/chips (finally!) :) Thanks for all that and more, Patrick ! and hope to see you again, this time in Warsaw or the US!! All the very best with all your travels !! May your life be full of early morning kebabs, and what precedes them ;) Take care mate
From GIUSEPPE1970 Padova, Italy Nov 4, 2007 Positive I met Patrick a couple of time in Warsaw and London, and I just was amazed by his drinking and dancing skills ... ;-) Luckily he decided to pass through Padova, so I had the chance to know him better. And I am waiting to meet him here again, with more time to spend together!
From ESCAPE Zurich, Switzerland Nov 4, 2007 Positive I can certainly recommend Patrick's breakfast-cooking skills. And he can manage to sleep anywhere, including standing up against a wall!
From Stefan Maier Dresden, Germany Oct 29, 2007 Positive Patrice is good to talk to, always smiling and easy-going.
From James Minchin Quito, Ecuador Oct 24, 2007 Positive I met Patrick at a couchsurfing meeting and was happy to host him at my place that night - and he did wonderfully well to endure me when I was extremely drunk that night and again when I was terribly hungover the next day!
From Rose May Amsterdam, Netherlands Oct 22, 2007 Positive Patrick showed up at our weirdess CS meeting ever. Although the club we partied did not have his preference he kept smiling and chatting to everyone! I really liked his CS t-shirt next time I might just steal it from him ;)!
From PETRUCCI67 Duisburg, Germany Oct 21, 2007 Positive I met Patrick at a rather small CS-meeting in Amsterdam and only talked to him a bit, sitting next to him while having dinner at a Tibetan restaurant in Amsterdam - since he has THAT many references - there's nothing to be added - everything's been said, I guess. I
should have had much more time to hear his amazing travel-experiences. We should definitely meet again some time ... hopefully in Poland ...
Always laughing and easy-going, appreciating the belgian beer - that's my impression ... I'd definitely trust him.
From Marta Maj Tübingen, Germany Sep 26, 2007 Positive patrick is a very good person to hang out. after i get used to his english accent it was very fun to talk to him ;-)seems to be a very shining person...never forget to smile
From MURINMIKE Prague, Czech Republic Sep 17, 2007 Positive I have met Patrick a just for couple of days at "Black Sea Summer Camp". We had very nice conversations and enjoyed Vama Veche together. He is opened minded person, very friendly and talkative. Take care and enjoy.
From PERKELE Munich, Germany Sep 10, 2007 Positive Patick hosted me even though he had moved from London to Warsaw 7 days ago. Patrick and his girl friend Marzena are really easy going people. It was a pleasure to met them.
From Marcin Ambroziak Walsall, United Kingdom Jul 29, 2007 Positive Patrick welcomed me to his tiny house even if he had accomodated 2 belgian girls already. I joined him for hc meeting that night and we met again other day in the centre. Patrick showed himself as very trustful and smiling, bright person. I hope he will like polish dailylife, our customs and all...

From Matthew Kutz Chicago, United States Jun 28, 2007 Positive I lived in London for 7 months and occasionally got homesick. Patrick would always make his way across town just to hang out and go get ribs and watch Packers games with me, just to cheer me up.
And at one odd American Thanksgiving celebration in a London pub, he played wingman for me against my visiting mom. . . That was a great night.
From M_GERLINDE Linz, Austria Jun 17, 2007 Positive Patrick organized an awesome bike tour along the river Thames which I never will forget. He was a real gentleman, letting me stay in a big bed in his room, while choosing the small couch for himself. He also checked out a bike for me and made sure that I am not hit by english cars (because for me they come from the wrong direction). He was very patient with me (and he London transport system) and made sure that I lack of nothing. :-)
From Sarah Bertagnolli Springfield, United States Jun 15, 2007 Positive Patrick is fun, generous, and has a surprising ability to always have a beer on hand to offer you just when you are thinking "I could really use a beer right now" - even if it's in the middle of a train station in London! ;) Joking aside, Patrick is a great guy to meet and have some laughs with, as well as being ultra-relaxed and easy-going. If you are exhausted from travel and just want to have an effortless good time with good company, Patrick is the one to meet! :)
From Simona Sarafudinova London, United Kingdom Jun 9, 2007 Positive Where do I start?! He smiles when he talks, I have never met anyone who smiles so much, that is the best thing. He travels so much, so many great stories to tell, he knows how to party, boogie and gosh he knows how to tickle. If you're ticklish beware!! It's all fun and games when you're around Patrick.
From Adam Warner London, United Kingdom Jun 7, 2007 Positive I dare to list Patrick as a good friend, even though the vodka he left with us at Berlin beach camp was ***ing deadly!! Macandrew man, are you trying to kill us?
From Fabien L Gentilly, France May 20, 2007 Positive Patrick is very nice and easy going, nothing seems to be a problem with him :) Thanks again!

From Frederik Nissen Montreal, Canada Apr 25, 2007 Positive Patrick basically SAVED me when I arrived in London last October. I stayed at his house few days, it took me a while to find an appartment, a job and... a life! I highly recommend Patrick, he showed me a lot of people from CS and HC. I still owe him a beer though... thanks men for everything
From Kadri Teeväli Avinurme, Estonia Apr 4, 2007 Positive Having briefly met on a few occasions through HC, Patrick now offered me accommodation for a few nights after I had posted one rather despatare message in the London forum here on CS page. From Luis y Laurie San Diego, United States Feb 6, 2007 Positive this guy just wants to party and have a good time! as long as theres girls around. he packs an awsome personality and a trusty pair of beer goggles for those boring nights! he's definitely a cool person to share a pint with. i will definitely look you up when we get to london this summer. good luck on your travels buddy!
From Katja Smirnov San Francisco, United States Feb 5, 2007 Positive Patrick is a wonderful guy! He was so nice to pick me up (he had to drive like an hour to do that) and take me to the beach or bay? :) The “confused” walk was really great and we achieved our goal of finding Mission Beach and at the end celebrated out love for good beer…haha :-) Patrick is so easy-going and is a GREAT photographer…Thank you so much for your time with me! I will see you in Poland or Spain…and I hope by that time you’ll be able to handle more than one shot of vodka…xex! :-) Till then stay safe and best of luck...
From Tomi Tenetz Farwaniah, Kuwait Jan 28, 2007 Positive I met him first time in a meeting which was organized by HC members in Finland. My first thought was he is a super brave cyclist and hiker / outdoor fella. He is very cool on a dance floor as well. Top guy. I am sorry it took a while to make this reference, it indicated how active I have been in CS lately. All the best Patric, I wish to see you again in the future.
