I had a great time hanging out with Rich! He is very interesting and well versed in traveling! I hope we meet again down the road!

Richard seems like a great guy - really impressed with all the work he's doing to make CS vibrant in DC, and glad he's also fighting the good fight for progressive social and environmental policy in his job with the Friends

I have met Rich in NYC at the Revival. We had a very short but thus interesting chat on photography. Then I found out that he is the city ambassador from DC, where my parents live. So I plan to see him there in late July, get to know him better and take a lot of pictures. This ref will be soon updated :-)

Rich was awesome organizing a pot luck dinner when I came down to DC. Got to meet the CS crew in DC.

Rich ate at the tai tanic with me and Ivan when we surfed in DC (goood noodles). He's a cool guy with a lot of interesting ideas, and I really enjoyed talking to him.

He has great ideas about CS!

I've seen Rich a bunch over the past year and he's such a good guy...always really helpful and welcoming. Thanks for giving me a hand in organizing:) He's a great DC ambassador.

Richard invited fellow beltway Couchsurfers to his place for a BBQ. He cleared up many of my misconceptions about Antarctica, for which I'm grateful. He's an all around chill guy and I hope to see him at future D.C. gatherings.

Rich and his housemates were wonderful hosts. Great conversations, drinks on a roof overlooking D.C. and a BBQ made this trip unforgettable. Rich is an inspiration, he has great stories to tell and it was a pleasure getting to know him. i hope our roads will cross again someday.

I'm glad Rich took the initiative to host that BBQ. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time meeting fellow CSers from the DC area and abroad. He's certainly a seasoned traveler and a very pleasant person.

I met Rich at a CS BBQ he hosted. He was very kind and welcoming. We talked about travel and CS, I am sure that he is a wonderful host and guest.

Richard is an interesting, warm, open-minded person. He knows how to have fun, and how to play pool :D. Hope to see him on another CS meeting. :)

It's pretty hard to get to know Rich without loving him (unless you're our landlord Steve.) Rich is smart and loves to talk about science and current events, he's a party-man, and he is suprisingly self-aware. He truly loves traveling and couch surfing. He's not exactly self-effacing, but he is always ready to admit fault if and when it is due and is incredibly receptive to suggestions (which is a wonderful quality to have when you live in community.) I love him like a brother.

The last time I bumped into Rich (off-ice) was days before I was returning (to the ice)... he was set to go and spread the CS love to New Zealand, and I was in awe of his energy and enthusiasm! Cool, cool guy!

Rich is friendly, responsible, a great cook, and is full of interesting information. Most of all, he's always looking for nice little things to do for people, which makes him both a great housemate and host. Plus, he's just about the most committed couchsurfer you'll ever meet and has a true traveller's spirit.

I had a great time and learned about CS. I also met some other really nice people thanks to Richard.

Rich is great - especially if you like interesting science based conversations which is an area he is very knowledgeable in.

Rich knows a thing or two about quite a few things. I enjoyed sharing ideas and perspectives about travel, CS, philosophy, bunnies, geek stuff... and most of all, his time in Antarctica. I've always wanted to go to the North and South poles and Rich is a wealth of knowledge in that dept. He's worked in Antarctica and was happy to give a "teach, learn, share" presentation so that we could all learn how to get there too! And, ask him to see his cool time lapse photography. Richard rocks!

Laughs easily and often with anyone that gets the chance to view his magnificance. what can you say about a man who's been so many places with so many friends? the proof is in the numbers...but the numbers wont tell you of his great conversation, endless energy, fantastic cooking, and beautiful smile. You stand no chance, you will undoubtedly be his friend.

did you see his username? WONDERFULLY Rich? yeah....it describes the guy! So surely shut up and just enjoy the wonderfully rich opportunity of hosting or couchsurfing with the guy. Capiche?

He and all CS members of Washington DC received me with lot's of friendness, good barbecue and curiosity. I had a very good time in DC and hope to get to know you better next time we meet.

Anyone who has been to Antarctica has to be an awesome guy. Rich seems really chill, he was a great pseudo-host, and I'll definitely look forward to exchanging more stories in the future.

Richard is a top dude! He's always got something good up his sleeve... and can easily entertain and impress just about anyone with his loves of photography, dancing, cooking, bunny ears, travel or science... and then of course there is "the ICE" which he speaks of with so much passion and excitement. I hope to see this sweet guy out on the playa one of these days...

I met Richard in Nelson as he just came back to Antartica. He and Ben made such a great review on it all the collective was wishing to go there :) Richard is capable of extreme logic and order, and then switch on a crazy mode at to party. It's really amazing :)

Rich can make some wicked time lapse films, dance like a madman, and lecture like a wise professor. Totally knowledgeable with it guy, I'd love to catch up with him again later in life

Oh man Rich is so AWESOME. Had so much fun when he was here !!!! He knows how to PARTY :D and he's been helping me out so so much with the groups!!!! We will so meet up again when I'm back in North America :D He ROCK !!!!

Rich is a responsible, friendly, and generous guy-- one who's life was forever changed by.... "THE ICE".

Rich really is WONDERFUL! He has the dichotomy of calm & crazy that always takes you a little bit by surprise. You won't run out of things to talk about avec him, from movies to living in Antarctica. He's fun at parties, too :)

I had a great time hearing about Ben's and Rich's journeys to Antarctica and discussing some of the organizational structure of CS. He is very dedicated to CS and did some great work...unfortunately did not get much of a chance to interact with Rich, but he is a really interesting guy and has a very diverse background...hope to catch up somewhere.

Rich is well-thought and articulate - in a good way that still enables him to hear people around him :)

Hearing about his antarctic adventures was sweet ass, and extra points for hardware wizardry when it was most needed (yet to see the results though! ;)

A man who knew the great value of a big wok and a good cleaver in the kitchen LOL. Rich had incredible stories of Antartica, and photography. I shall endeavour to bring your requested laddles to DC my friend! Have a safe journey home!

Rich is one of those considerate types, willing to share his vitamin c energy drinks with you at the drop of a hat. He led us to the korean bbq, laughed at the bad juggler and in general was super nice.
Hopefully we'll see him again next time he's passing through :)

I`m sure that Richard is just one of the greatest participants of CS. If he can`t host you, he`ll definitely help you out by suggesting people who can. That was also my case - when I first got to D.C. he helped me to find a host. The second time, while coming back home to Latvia, I stayed with Rich himself. Although I stayed only for a day, it was pretty cool to meet his housemates and to see their daily life. Will never forget the run with the bags through the city to the airport :) But, yeah, thanks Richard!This community works because of people like you and sorry that it took me ages to write this...

We had a great time with Rich, he showed us the greatness of couchsurfing. We had a great few days and will always remember our time in wonderland and the adventures in veggie sushi. We will highly recommend him to anyone.

Rich is an incredible guy. He's a good person, thoughtful, nice, fun to be around, and intelligent.

I met Rich at a DC Couchsufers gathering and found him friendly and interesting. We all talked about places we enjoyed when we traveled.

Rich was awesome! He really took care of me - came to the airport, gave me transport cards and it was great to hang out with him and his friends in the evening. Can't wait for him to come to Melbourne!

Richard is cool. Neglecting to look at his profile prior to the meet, I was not aware he went to Antarctica - I expect to be showered in penguin stories upon our next meeting. Richard - I was not sure what you were talking about with the bunny picture last night, but I now understand. That is the coolest picture I've ever seen.

Rich is very easy going, inquisitive, and has lots of great ideas. He's great to hang with, travel with, chat with, whatever. I've always enjoyed our time together.

WE have had some good travels in Mexico and California

Rich is accomodating and very laid back and friendly. I was made to feel very welcome on Thanksgiving day (the day I arrived) and even though it was my firsdt experience of the holdiay, I felt very much part part of the experience.

Thanks so much for your hospitality Rich. I had a great weekend and it was cool to meet your parents and friends from work. I'll definately keep in touch with where I am on my travels.

Richard hosted us on short notice, fed us well and gave us a comfortable place to sleep... didn't get to talk with him much, but he seemed like a real genuine guy.

Richard is unique and I don't say that very often, but it's in a good way. He has been to those places that most people don't go to. He's open to trying something new.

Glad he organized the meeting and I hope many more are to come!

rich is a good guy, and fun to hang out with; witty, intelligent, and easygoing. my overall experience was very positive. ask him to show you his antarctic food pictures. i'm looking forward to hanging out with rich again, and soon.

I meet Rich on HC meeting in Bangkok, and then we spend few days together in Bangkok, and travelled together to Koh Tao.
Well, for 6-7 how we travelled togehter, I have to say all the best about him

I sat next to him in a meeting :-) and we all went out party in RCA! followed with some sight seeing, dinners and another parties..hehe! I really enjoyed conversations with Rich (love his laughing! it's kind of laugh that also makes me laugh too) :-) can talk to him about nearly everything from politics to "how popcorn pops"! (LOL) We share same interest in photography too which is great. I definitely enjoyed hanging out with him.

Rich and I worked together at McMurdo Station for a summer. He's a great guy to hang out with, good conversationalist, with an easy laugh, many idea and experiences (not to mention photos and videos) from around the world to share. A thoughtful person, but doesn't take himself too seriously and can be found, for example, running around in costume bunnyrabbit ears at all hours of the morning. I'm sure he'd be a consummate host, and a very considerate and fun guest. If I ever have a couch, he'll be welcome to surf it. :)

nice guy.. i met rich through a friend and enjoyed the time we all hung out together in melbourne! my overall impression of him was that he is a nice solid guy - happy to lend a helping hand and up for a chat about life or whatever - i hope we'll stay in touch. 8)
