Annick Marie hosted a friend and I for a whooping 7 days in her flat near Edinburgh. This was very generous of her to accomodate two tall guy in her already full apartment for such a long time! I'm sorry we took too much space and were a bit untidy, as Annick told us during a conversation on the last day of our stay. We should have watched ourselves more. At least, we learned a great deal from that experience, it's not going to happen again.

Anyway, apart from that, our stay was great, and I'm glad I met Annick because she's such an intersting person. Just start a conversation about anything that has to do with "community" and you're sure to go a long way ;) Thanks again for everything!

I stayed at Annick's place for a week with a friend of mine. Annick is very involved in the couchsurfing process and the community of Edinburgh, and she was willing to share her experiences and informations she thought could be useful to us: thanks to her, we were introduced to the Edinburgh community for the halloween party, then she directed us to a friend who became our next host in St-Andrews, she also showed us Edinburgh for a "local" perspective instead of from a tourist one, which was quite interesting. It was more than we could hope for, and I am very grateful for this.

Even though Jean-Gabriel and I tried to contribute to the life in the appartment, we probably took too much space in an already compact living area; sorry if those two tall guys were sometimes an annoyance!

The moment I met this wonderful crazy lady, I felt like I had known her for years! We talked non stop for hours and we both found ourselves to be somewhat hyperactive! Soon after we somehow became in engaged and have been fiancees ever since. I always love having her around and her energy and enthusiasm continually entertain and inspire me. The amount of work she does for Cs is amazing and I am so glad to have had the pleasure of her company in Edinburgh.

Anick really is the best representation of couch surfing. She takes you into her home, spends time with you showing you around the city and seriously she has more knowledge of Edinburgh than anyone else I know. She shows you all the fun pubs and clubs where to hang out, all the concerts and museums...And she has an army of cool cs (and other) friends for you to meet and enjoy.
And she helps you with your sorrows and heartache and covers you with warm blankets...is this starting to sound too much like Mother Teresa..? :)

Anick was a wonderful host and is a wonderful person. it was so nice having family dinners and having serious and meaningful conversations. An extremely generous host, especially considering everything she has on her plate. She has already lived so much and has very big plans for her future and I have no doubt she will attain them all

A-M is very energetic, and I am glad she took on the re-organisation of the CouchSurfing translation teams. She seems to be an organisation (and improvisation!) natural - and "empowering people" is not just a word. It's work, and hard work at that. I am thankful for myself and for CouchSurfing that she took it off my shoulder when I hadn't enough arms to even juggle my own life properly. Yup...
And personally: I really enjoyed the time we spent in that training salon getting our hair sized up, discussed, tackled and primped (not my kinda fancy leisure usually)... Under normal circumstances, it would have been dead boring and far too slow, but with A-M, each minute was worthwhile. Hope to meet up again at some point. Until then, eMail will have to fill the gap ;)

What can I say... I found a big sister, she's amazing and I'm very proud of her. I spent a month with her but I have the impression we know us a long long time ago. She's able to sharing all her stuff, always ready to help others, Annick is open mind, nice, funny, and have a lot of experience to share. You'll never be bored with her around. We just have super great time, did a lot of crazy things, laugh a lot, speak seriously,... If you meet her you'll be very lucky, and if you become her friend you can't imagine how lucky you are, and if you make her some trouble I'll kick your ass because she's my sister, and one of the most wonderful person I ever meet.

A lot of my friends were talking about Anick ... and that's true, she really got something special, i am glad to know her!

I arrived now since one week on Anick flat and we become flatmate now for several months.
Anick is a very interesting person, sensitive, attentive to others, dynamic, open mind, and very nice.
If you can, I advice you to cross her road!
I am sure she will accomplish great things.

Anick-Marie is a part of my family I discovered in the middle of her teen age! At 18 years old, I rang to her door after finding her adress I don't remember where... The energical stream had to be there, I think, for me to search in littles streets in the other end of Quebec province... I remember looking at her as looking at me in the mirror... my cousin had blue hair and a strong character! I always appreciated been with her since then and even though we've been long periods without seeing each other it is always a pleasure to chat together. She never seems to be in a bad mood and she is a life lover. She went in Magdalen Islands 10 years after she left with her family to encounter the people she was missing to! I will always be there for that kind girl I care for...

One of those people for which "extremely positive" that we used to have on CS had a reason of existence! She is really experinced about hosting and guiding people. That's why I did really enjoy my time in Edinburgh during fringe festival. Don't miss to meet her, you will like having conversation with her, because she is learned about everything.
Besides she is not only active CSer but also good volunteer for CS.

Anick is such a perfect, intelligent, adventorous girl. She likes the way as she wants. Even though misundersood each other before meeting, I'm very very glad that she hosted me and my close friend.I really liked talking with her deep conversations. I really didnt want to write negative feedback about Anick because it was a mutual falling out. I dont get wound up over these things but she has a way of putting her metaphorical baggage on everyone else. She is very confrontational and in your face. Plus she cannot let go of unimportant and irrelevant details. I tried to get along with her but she became increasingly rude and difficult.
She has a whole lot of problems I am sure she will never get over because of her personality.
Her inability to listen and learn from other people is due to her always wanting to voice her opinion no matter how little her understanding of the subject.
I have no interest in bothering with this person ever again.

I am very happy that I met Anick. It was a good thng that I didn't decide to surf Edinburgh till the last minute. I was pleased to discover that we shared many of the same aquaintances. I very much enjoyed hearing some of her stories and talking about cs. She,ulf, and I had a great dinenr and drinks at the forest. I hope to see her again soon.#

Anick was so wonderful with me, I had a problem with my host in Endinburgh... I sent a sos to her!! And she saved me, we passed a really great night, without Padame Padame, but with a new friendship!!

Anick-Marie is just THE Best Ambassador! She picked me up from the train station at 830 in the morning even though she was having a little flu.
Showed me around most of Edinburgh and even brought me to the most wonderful cafe and restaurants. She is definitely the sweetest and nicest person.

Anick-Marie she's a full positive powerfull person.When i arrive at the Paella i neaded a place to sleep (tent) she found it for me in 3 min. She know everybody. She sing pretty good and spend some time with her it's a luck.

Annick-Marie is just about perfect........ for a Canadian :-) I'm very glad to finally have had the opportunity to meet her in person. She showed up with a bunch of other people at a meeting I organized. We've already been in e-mail contact for some time and she's as nice as I imagined her to be. Completely trustworthy!

March 2008: I met Anick in Berlin at Caspar's apartment where we were both being hosted, then we went on a road trip together to Krakow for 4 days. I had such a great time riding in the back seat with her, she always keeps things interesting. I think that Anick is the kind of person that brings out the best in people, and she always made me laugh and made me feel really comfortable. I'll always cherish the memories of her feeding me sausage and when we would randomly start singing songs together. I really hope I can see her again sometime soon in Europe, because she is someone that once you meet, you want to see again and again and again.
Update July 2008: Anick and I have kept in touch a lot, and I really appreciate her continuing friendship! We saw each other again at Berlin Beach Camp, then she hosted me for 2 nights in Koln, where she was a perfect host, and then we were both at the Paella also. I really value our time together and I am excited to hopefully see her again soon once she moves to the UK. Oh yeah - a testament to just how much I trust her is that I even let her cut my hair! And that is a first for me.

I've met Anick-Marie at the CS paella 08 where we shared a wee chat. During the evening we have had a great time listenning her singing some popular & folk songs from Quebec!

Paella meeting '08 was great. A lot of fun, a lot of old friends there and a lot of new friends after. After the Berlin Beach Camp and many online interactions we met again at the infamous Paella 2008 where Anick once more proved to be both a good listener and a good speaker, but also a good singer and entertainer.

Even if we "worked" there quite a bit I enjoyed the time we spent together a lot and hope to see her again soon :o)

well... unfortunally, "extremely positive" is the best option you can choose, otherwise I would have selected "galactical" or "splendid":-) Annick visited me on the way to the great paella and we had a wunderful evening, witch I'll never forget! We had a fantastic conversation, walked through town and had a nice dinner. I really hope, that I'll meet her again, maybe in Scotland.

I can see she has some real integrity. I know I will see her again and we can talk more. Great things she is doing without the weathered crust to keep her from being nice and open.

Met in Bremen at BBQ party, she headed noisy group of CSers. Anick-Marie gave me couple of useful advice about finding host in Paris and selling train ticket.

I first met Anick at the Berlin Beach Camp, but I really got to know her when she took me in for a few nights in Koln. What I discovered was only good things! She's extremely caring, knows a few secret destinations around Koln, and if you're lucky she might even teach you a little poi juggling... IF you're lucky! You'd do very well if you find yourself being hosted by Anick - so be sure to show your gratitude. She definitely made a very difficult time for me much easier. Thanks again Anick!

I first met Anick-Marie at the BBC08 after I missed her during her stay in Bremen. I was quite happy when I received her message that she would accept my invitation to come to Bremen for a second time.
So she came here along with bright sunshine, her companion Peter and some Kölsch. We spent a great time with coffee in my house, the pleasures of black olives on chicken breast during a bus trip, a BBQ at Sannas place including a thunderstorm, a short bar excursion followed by a party on my rooftop, a perfect anti-hangover-breakfast next morning, some sightseeing, a bike trip, lounging at the beach, relaxing in my kitchen, a great dinner at a friends place and a long good-bye-hug on platform 7.

She listened to me and gave a good advice when I needed it. In this world where I feel all too often like an alien she made me feel there are also others here from the same planet. She recharged my mental batteries when they were almost empty. And she managed to do all this within 35 hours.

You Know what? From your profile and my first impression in Berlin I already expected a good CS-experience, but what happened here was even better.

I met Anick-Marie in BBC 2008,in short terms ,she is wonderful, I was astonished as the way she actually manged the Ambassadors Gathering in the camp and really cared for the CS and had very accurate and definite explanations for nearly all the questions and ideas.
she really is one of the reasons that CS has developed so much in Germany.

Update Mai 2008: difficult to sum-up one year of regular exchange and idea’s confrontations! She is a part of rare people in couchsurfing website with who I can share point of view (agreement, disagreement, questioning. . .) with the most respectful and constructive way. A true friend and at the same time a precious adviser!

We met at three occasions this year in Cologne and Berlin. Annick-Marie is cool!!

After seeing her work in different groups and hearing stories about her from our mutual friends it was a pleasure to finally meet Anick-Marie at the Berlin Beach Camp. After i start to prepare some workshops for the Berlin Beach Camp Anick was the first who offer to help and so we rock the CS Workshops at the Camp together. She is really addiced into CS like me and also its always a pleasure to have a chat with here. Hope you wont move that fast from Germany and we see us again on another great meeting!

Seeing those hard-core CouchSurfers in action at Berlin Beach Camp 2008 was amazing. I appreciate the efford and dedication that people like Anick-Marie put into it. She took part in the workshops and introduced me to yet another Country Amb (after Caspar it was now Roland).

Anick is a great and generous person. We talked a lot about personal things and view of life. Moreover she is a real support to activate the local community with a lot of experience in this field and very motivated to do it! :)

I am really happy to have traveled with and surfed with Anick. She is truly awe inspiring and is truly a special woman. She is uncomplicated, likes to be barefoot, starts singing on a whim, always has food to feed you, is a natural navigator who is never lost, spontaneous, hippie born years too late, and our own personal tour guide. She is truly a world traveler. She is one of very few people that I would travel with. You know that warm fuzzy feeling? I have that when I am around her. I really cherish meeting you Anick.

Life is a journey and Anick is travelling it! She is one of the few people who really leave an impression on me and I feel deeply connected to her. Wahoo, what a reference! She is also a good host, multitasker, listener and storyteller btw ;)

I met Anick during a CS meeting and also had to give her a little advice about Essen, too bad she didn't stay longer to see more of the city.

Though we only know for since beginning of january on chat and the weekend with Ulf in Cologne, I feel like we shared many deep talks and there is a connection. After Cologne I planed a road trip to Krakow, Poland with Ashley&Roger, 2 of my friends from CS chat. Anick was in and she was the perfect team member. Us 4 had the best time on the trip. Anick and me stayed at the same lovely host-family there and she kept on the conversation late night while I fighted not to fall to sleep at the kitchen table. Enjoyed Krakow, met Couchsurfers, had good talks, shared food etc... after Krakow she stayed 6 more days at my place. We where both so busy on CS so 1 of us was on the PC all the time, changing every few hours.. I think now I really know alot about her after all we shared and she knows alot about me! About me on CS and about me outside CS. Anick you are always welcome at my place. See you on the Beach Camp next time.

Anick was very open to explain me lots of couchsurfing; I am quite new here so I don't know many things yet. It was interesting and fun talking to her.

Anick visited Poland with the CS Chat Addicts roadtrip. She is really fun, intelligent and talkative. She's one of those people you feel comfortable with in an instant, a couple of sentances and you know you will "click". We enjoyed our chats and laughed alot ( thanks Anick ). We also had a glimpse on CS security internals, very interesting!
Being on the CS security team, obviously she's very trustworhy.
Don't give it too much thought, host her!!! We sure will if she ever wants to visit.

I really had the chance to host twice Anick-Marie , firstly during the Braderie de Lille 2007 with her friend Bastien and secondly in march 2008 when she came back from the Independant Women meeting in Brugge. She is very interesting and funny. She can do a lot of artistic things and learn to me the way to cook some popcorn with chease. I really listen to her, because she has many things to learn to each other about the CS system and stories. I hope to see you soon Anick-Marie, maybe in Lille again or ... in Germany ! Anick-Marie... where to start explaining how we spent the Independent Women Meeting together and beyond! AM and I work together in MD&ST and we got to know each other through there.
We spent a lot of time chatting about work related issues and became good friends. Our first meeting was in feb 2008 when she came to visit in Oslo for 9 days. She was an xcellent guest! Helpful, funny and she has a very optimistic view of life.
She shares a lot of herself witch makes it really easy to be around her and feel well in her company !
We also met in June '08 (Bremen) and July '08 (Switzerland - Paella).

Through our work and our meetings she has become one of my trusted friends and we talk about almost everything. She is a great listener and she also has a lot of good advices and views of life to take into consideration.
I would definately be happy to host her again at any point later.

AM is a great work-partner and although we have a similar way of dealing with work issues we also have very different backgrounds and ideas and with these we fulfill each other in a good way. Love you!

Finally we met at the Independent Women Meeting in Brugge, after months of organization and msn conversations. Already before we met I felt that we connected very well and meeting AM was just a confirmation. She is full of energy and ideas and her positive attitude is contagious. At the same time she is very direct and serious about serious matters. I hope we keep in touch and meet again soon.
