About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I'd rather learn from one bird how to sing than teach ten million stars how not to dance - e.e. cummings
ABOUT ME
I'm a native southerner, but have become well-adjusted to the NW way of life. I like to think I'm laid back, but I worry too much about our world and life for that to be true. Still, I have lots of fun and am genuinely interested in people and new experiences. I enjoy being alone, reading or writing or listening to music, just as much as I love going out with my friends, to shows or for a beer or to one of the millions of interesting things going on around Portland.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like reading. A lot. Some favorite authors: Garcia Marquez, Kundera, Penn Warren, Faulkner, Raymond Carver, Lorrie Moore, Houellebecq, Foer, Walker Percy.
I like music, too. A lot. Almost as much as I like books! I just started guitar lessons, but I played piano for about ten years. I like everything, from classical to country to indie rock to experimental. Some favorites: Chopin, The Smiths, Bob Wills, Hank Williams, Iris DeMent, Gillian Welch, Neko Case, New Pornographers, Peter Bjorn & John, Jacqueline Taieb, El Perro del Mar, Andrew Bird, Big Bill Broonzy, Castanets, Stars, Stevie Wonder, Yo La Tengo.
I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to movies. I watched The Last Picture Show last night at the $3 movie theater and enjoyed it very much.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent a summer studying medieval literature at Cambridge, exploring King's College, drinking Newcastle, and eating scones with clotted cream.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have tons of books, which, except for a select few that are near and dear to me, I'm happy to loan out. I know my fair share about literature and music. I have a guitar that I'm learning to play. I'm becoming a decent cook.
