CouchSurfing Hymn

Here we write together the CouchSurfing Hymn.

It's a pity that CouchSurfing does not have an hymn, isn't it? Many CouchSurfers are musicians (i.e. like to play instruments) and writers (i.e. like to play with words), so why shouldn't we all together write the CouchSurfing Hymn? We then release it under a Creative Commons licence so that all the CouchSurfers of the world can play it, improve it, contribute to it! And yes, even Gilberto Gil will be allowed to sing it! ;-)

There is also a project for creating a CouchSurfing Music CD.

so far for now. waiting on reactions to jam a beautiful session :)

although it is true that timbres and scales/modes are indeed tied to specific cultures; i propose that language and therefore lyrics are the one aspect of music that find even more difficulty transcending nations; would a "hymn" without words to communicate our intercultural experience be out of the question?

One option is to use MusiPedia

national hymns often use existent, classical melodies as their basis. Any proposals?

(benefits from a pre-selected melody would be a defined measure of where to fit in the lyrics... so we can actually all work in the same frame!)

anyways, the music ought to be there before the lyrics, to define a common basis if not one person shall end up doing it all alone.
