Couchsurfing Web Widget

The statements and opinions on this page are solely those of its authors and do not necessarily represent the official position of CouchSurfing International.

This page is a Request for Enhancement. It is a draft. You are encouraged to find support for it, etc.
After the enhancement has been clearly articulated, and all affected portions of the website have been identified, you may try to persuade a developer to implement it. After implementation it will be deployed somewhere, but not necessarily to the main website.

A Web widget is a portable chunk of code that can be embedded within any separate HTML-based web page by an end user, for example in her blog or in her myspace page. A widely present example is the Flickr Badge which allows to include in your blog some of your last photos. See more example on the Wikipedia page and to get an idea the web widgets offered by google or the one offered by LybraryThing.

Advantages

  • end user will be able to install it on their pages (myspace, blog) and more people will be informed about the existence of CouchSurfing.

Disadvantages

How to do it

A simple javascript showing some info about the couchsurfing member will do the job. For example, name, nick, location, face, hosted people or other info and a message such as "I change the world one couch at a time, and you?".

There are 2 example in the Talk page.
