Leuven is a wonderful student city in Belgium

Most of the activities are made by and made for those students. The university in Leuven is one of the biggest of the country, and one of the oldest and most reputed in Europe.

Also the university hospital is reputed trough Western Europe.

Studentlife

Upon visiting Leuven you will soon be sucked into the great student atmosphere. Leuven has about 25.000 students, and on a population of 90.000 they are highly visible. The buildings of the university are scattered around the city and extend to some areas outside of the centre. (Arenbergcampus, Gasthuisberg, etc).

Most students reside in the city during the week and will go to their home-towns on weekends. Some claim that therefor weekends are dull, but in general there is always something to do.

Students entertain themselves in their faculty bars, fakbars, where the beer is cheaper and everything is relaxed. Most faculties also organises parties, TD's ,in one of the bigger venues. These usually have a small entrance fee.

There are of course many bars and party places where everyone is welcomed. Most bars are located on the beautiful Oude Markt. Said to be the biggest bar (toog) in Europe.
