Roskilde is one of the oldest cities in Denmark and hence there is much to see, especially if you like Vikings. Down by the water there is a Viking museum which is very interesting. While you're down by the water you should also get one of the huge "harbor" ice cream cones.

Roskilde Cathedral is another attraction of the city, also with a great history. The oldest part of the cathedral was built in 1175.

Couchsurfers

There are around 25 active Couchsurfers in Roskilde and around 70 more or less active couchsurfers within 20 km of Roskilde, if you would like to see some of Denmarks countryside you should contact some of these Couchsurfers and get out of the city for a while.

Transportation

By train

Transportation to and from Roskilde is usually not a problem. You can always take the train to Copenhagen which takes about 30 minutes. Check [DSB] for arrivals/departures.

Trains from Jutland and Funen all come by Roskilde and most of them stop here.

By air

There is a small airport just outside of Roskilde, but the airport doesn't have a lot (if any) of commercial traffic. However Ryanair is medling with plans to start flying to and from Roskilde Airport [1].

Tourism

Visit Roskilde has the lowdown on some of Roskildes tourist attractions.

Roskilde Festival

Every year the city is host of the Roskilde Festival which draws about 100,000 visitors from all over the world.

Vikings!

The Viking ship Museum is an interesting museum if your in any way into Vikings. Another place of interest is Lejre not far from Roskilde which have the Lejre Experimental Center documenting the lives of Vikings through experiments.
