SERVAS is a hospitality exchange network founded in 1948. SERVAS is not internet based but book based with a different process to become a member (one has to go for an interview). The website has some information.

What is SERVAS

Servas is a very similar much older organization which is book based and the security is provided by face to face interviews to become a member. Check out there website!

Experience using SERVAS

I travelled through Australia and NZ and used it also in Munich and have to say although the hosts are one or two generations older than here - they are absolutely super and young at heart! --Bontour 12:49, 5 December 2006 (EST)
