What about asking CS members to contact local community programs and local government to find opportunities. Create local NeedSurfing coordinators who seek out volunteer opportunities for CS volunteers and local CS hosts for the volunteers. There's no reason that I can see why needSurfing couldn't work quite well with that. Local volunteer coordinators (self-ordained) could do some research and look at all the public volunteer oportunities and parse out which ones would be best for coushsurfing. For example they could organize a Habitat For Humanity team which would help build homes for needy people during a scheduled habitat build. I like the idea of doing it through people instead of just having a database search function (though that could have a few advantages too). CSers could just contact the coordinator if they are interested in volunteer oportunities in a particular city. In fact there is no reason why the two can't both exist. Having a volunteer coordinator may be much easier/quicker to implement. Great idea! thanks for the contrib. --Metal.lunchbox 10:22, 14 November 2006 (EST) article history edit |
