The drive to Abel Tasman and Golden Bay is just as beautiful as the destination.
In Golden Bay visit Te Waikoropupu Springs which is New Zealand's largest freshwater springs.
It's easy to hitch around this region and camp out in some amazing places. It's likely to be sunny most of the year.
The people around here are pretty laid back, and will join you for a conversation if they like the look of you.
