The statements and opinions on this page are solely those of its authors and do not necessarily represent the official position of CouchSurfing International.

The technical goals for the New Zealand Collective:

  • Solidifying programmer coordination
    • Find the right way of communicating, through Wiki, CS Groups, the BT, the mailinglist
  • Developing coordination with non-technical feature development parts of the CS organization
  • Getting more programmers trained and involved
  • Improving the site
    • Fixing the most annoying existing bugs
    • Making the site as secure and reliable as possible
    • Developing new features
  • Starting long-term technical projects locally to be continued after the collective
    • examples?
    • Could be as simple as assigning responsibilites for specific parts of the site or sub-projects for people joining the collective based on their interest and ability, continuing accountability beyound the collective.
    • One example: Ride-share subsystem (or any other of the frequently requested features) could be drafted out at the collective with the help of local non-tech participants and relevant branches of the off-site organizational structure, while finishing the code and maintaining it could continue after the collective.
