CURRENT MISSION Live a champagne lifestyle on a lemonade budget. ABOUT ME What, spill it all here and spoil the surprise? PHILOSOPHY Do whatever you can to fill your days with new experiences, because what is life without adventure? I've found that when you follow your heart, you'll always be where you belong. And from Epicurus (who I believe would have loved CouchSurfing): "If thou wilt make a man happy, add not unto his riches but take away from his desires."

COOL *FREE* PLACES TO VISIT IN WASHINGTON DC: WALK RIGHT IN: -US Botanical Gardens -Supreme Court -Smithsonian museums -National Portrait Gallery -Senate and House office buildings -FDR, Vietnam, and Lincoln memorials *best at night* -Library of Congress WAKE UP EARLY FOR FREE TICKETS: -Bureau of Engraving and Printing (money, that is) -Holocaust Museum's permanent exhibition -Capitol Building PLAN BEFORE YOU ARRIVE: -State Department tour (1 week minimum notice) -Pentagon tour (1 week minimum notice) -White House tour (6+ months notice) -Meeting your member of Congress or Ambassador (many members of Congress have weekly coffee/breakfasts for anyone visiting from the state) IF YOU'RE GOING TO ALASKA: When planning your trip to Alaska, please allow plenty of time to explore. This state is much larger than any other in the USA, so expect to spend a day traveling between major cities and allow a few days at each location. It breaks my heart to see backpackers who want to experience all of what Alaska has to offer in 2 weeks. Also, save up. While CS is an excellent way to save on lodging, you will need to pay a sizeable sum for car/train/bus/boat/plane travel between our destinations and hitchhiking is not always a reliable option, especially in the off-season (Fall/Winter/Spring).
