I’ve realized that no one is purely good or purely bad. We’re all layered, complex, and situational. What we call “character” is often just the version of someone we happened to encounter. That’s why I’ve grown skeptical of dating apps. They tend to bring out the most transactional, impatient, and sometimes even cynical sides of people. Desire becomes efficiency. Curiosity becomes selection. Connection turns into comparison. Yet on travel or cultural exchange platforms, those same individuals can appear open-minded, generous, and full of warmth. It’s almost ironic — the person doesn’t change, but the environment does. And with it, the mask. Maybe platforms don’t create personalities. They simply expose different layers of human nature. And perhaps what we judge as “good” or “bad” is nothing more than context revealing a particular side.
