I was born in and raised in Oakland, California, USA. I am currently living in Mozambique for two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer. What is Peace Corps? Peace Corps is a US government organization that sends Americans to countries all over the world. These volunteers work in four sectors: education, health, agriculture, and business/economics. Here in Mozambique we have two sectors, health and education. I am a health volunteer. While living in Ribáuè, a small town in Nampula province, I am paired with the local hospital and a NGO. Together we are trying to mobilize the community to fight the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Most of my work comes from educating the population on the spread of HIV and how it can be prevented. My favorite movie of all time is Forrest Gump! I’m a avid movie watcher. I love watching something that is different and challenges the status quo. I’m the same way with music. I’m open to anything! My favorite band, however, is Portugal. The Man. I love their sound!
