Hey! My name is Jean-Hugues and I'm a 24-year-old Frenchie born in Dunkirk, Northern France 🇫🇷 This year, I graduated from the master's programme in environmental policy at Sciences Po Paris. I just moved to Visby to pursue my studies that will focus on Sustainable Destination Development @Uppsala University 🇸🇪 I'm an avid cyclist so I cycled more than 2,500 kilometers from Dunkirk to Visby, following the coastlines of Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Sweden. What a trip it was! I support a low-carbon form of tourism that puts forward local cultures and savoir-faires. I believe that generosity and solidarity are fundamental values. If I can give you a hand while you’re exploring Sweden or France I would be glad to do so! And if you wanna cook some fusion cuisine or go thrift shopping , I'm your guy! Personality-wise, I'd describe myself as a laidback, audacious and energetic young man. I am very concerned about climate emergency and social inequalities (I was an environmental activist in Lille).

When I host people, I love to show my region and its hidden gems + make some advertising for the French destination (such a beautiful country!). Obviously, I love the cultural exchanges and building new relationships. Listening to my guests makes me feel like I'm travelling while I'm working/studying. When I travel, I like to mix hostels (to meet international travelers like me) and couchsurfing to spend some time with some local people. I've met so many great people thanks to Couchsurfing ! I guess you're the next one ! 😉

我做过的一件令人惊叹的事
-Hitchhiked from Edirne (Turkey) to Dimitrovgrad (Bulgaria) with 2 policemen -Crossed the Caribbean Sea for 35 hours from Cartagena to the San Blas archipelago with a misogynistic and fascist sailor (...) on a 32-feet-dusty-sailboat, with 3-meter-waves, with almost no previous sailing experience. Stayed 2,5 weeks in the archipelago with him... cause I didn't have the choice (had to pass immigration which was 8 hours West). Read a lot alone on the deck not to listen to conspiracy theories. Managed to have an amazing time with the local indigenous community, some other sailors and nature. Caught a Staphylococcus. Spent 2 days in the hospital. Kept the smile 😀
