Christmas eve

Organized by Kirstine Desian

Come let us celebrate christmas together. We will be in a place normally used for a folk kitchen, in the basement of Korsgade 19.

Please bring a dish/ something to cook, or help us dumpsterdiving in the evening of 23rd.
There is a kitchen, so we can cook together from around 3 pm. Probably we will start eating around 6-7 pm.

If you have a guitar, know some good games or something, that will be nice.
Last year we played a mime game, it was fun, and good with many people, so maybe we can play that again this year.

Looking forward to a great evening.

UPDATE ON WHAT YOU COULD BRING:

Untill now I found 6 liters of red wine, so I guess everyone can have a few glasses, and we have coffee and tea. If someone wants to DRINK something else than that, maybe a good idea to bring it :-)

If you want MEAT dishes, you need to bring it, as we mostly found veggies untill now.

I found some potatoes and other roots, not sure if it enough yet, but I might find more on the 23rd.

And some lettuce, cauliflower and things like that I found, for salads.

ORANGES or CLEMENTINES could be nice to have, I did not find that yet, so you can bring that. I found some other fruits.

There is already someone making a ris a la mande for dessert, but we can use other SWEETS, maybe CAKES, COOKIES, CHOCOLATE or CANDY?

Or things like NUTS, DATES, FIGS, SNACKS.

Or if you have a special CHRISTMAS DISH from your country you would like to share with us.

Many SUPERMARKETS will be closed on the 24th, but some are still open. I think the closest ones will be the Netto in Rantzausgade and the one at Jarmers Plads.

Looking forward to see you all, I am sure it will be a great christmas :-)

If you need to get in touch with me, you can reach me on 0045 40819325.
I will not be possible to reach in other ways after noon on the 24th.

This is a great idea! I was supposed to host Christmas dinner for a few close friends, but they are going to be working, so this is a great save, and a great way to celebrate with new friends! :-)

How will we know we have enough food, or how much to bring? I am guessing we will all bring something to share? So am wondering if there will be any vegan or at least vegetarian options? Sorry for all these questions, haha. Looking forward to it :-)

Hi Chiara. Yes, we all bring something to share. If you want to join for the dumpsterdiving the night before, you will have an idea of what we have to cook, and you are welcome to cook vegan or vegetarian dishes :-)

Sunny Sharma, if you want to celebrate christmas at your place, it is a good idea to make an event. I am sure there is room for more than one christmas dinner in Copenhagen :-)

Have people decided what they are bringing/cooking? For the ones who aren't or can't go dumper diving the night before?

I was thinking I could bring some playing cards and with that we can play some games, I have to look if I have any other games I can bring, we can play Christmas music on phones through spotify, and as Kirstine said, if anyone has any instruments or knows how to play music, that'd be cool!

Am looking forward to this! :-)

Hey everyone! I'm travelling solo and would love to hang out with you guys from all around the world for a fun christmas eve!

Sorry I will not be able to join the dumpsterdiving the night before as I will arrive copenhagen late at night.

It's a bit difficult when we don't know what you guys will get the night before... I think I will take care of dessert?

I will come early to help to prepare the food :) (don't know to cook :P)

Just a small suggestion, will it be more fun if we all bring one small present to exchange? say about DKK 20 - DKK40? then we can all take turn to open up the present and see what is it! :D

    Let me know!

I found some potatoes and other roots, not sure if it enough yet, but I might find more on the 23rd.

I also found some fruit, but no oranges or clementines, so that could be a thing to bring?

I think there is already someone making a ris a la mande for dessert, but maybe cakes, cookies, chocolate or sweet?

Or if you have a special christmas dish from your country you would like to share with us.

Last year we played a kind of mime game, that was fun and could include everyone. I do not remember exactly how it was played, but maybe someone else does.

Personally I am not so much into this present thing, it is mostly just waste of money and getting something I do not need, sorry. If most others would prefer it, then I am okay with it, but otherwise I prefer to not have it :-)

  16. Melissa

    Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia

Yeah.. true! getting something we don't need is a waste, i agree with that. Let's scrap that idea.

ok! I can make marshmallow cornflakes.. it's very easy to make and very yummy. I will bring the ingredients and cook there if it's ok.

  17. Brian Pham

    Helsingborg, Skåne County, Sweden

    I'll bring wine and food!

  18. Chiara Wolff

Copenhagen, Capital Region of Denmark, Denmark

Melissa: Dessert has already been handled, so if you don't know how to cook, maybe you can just buy something instead, as we will need more savoury than sweet stuff :-)
As for the gifts, I was thinking of that.
There is a fun game we could play called Pakkeleg, however, I would need everyone to confirm to please buy a small gift and wrap it (can be wrapped in newspaper as that doesn't matter), the gift shouldn't really exceed 20kr and should be something that we can use like tea or chocolate (usually pakkeleg presents are pretty useless, as it's all about the game, but as we are trying to not waste, please only bring things someone can use, it can be edible or it can be something like candles, as long as they are useful :-) ) So please confirm and then I will bring a set of dice and a small gift too :-)

    As Kirsten said,
if someone wants something else to drink, should bring that along, so I reckon it's a good idea to bring your own drinks and as we don't know how the dumpster diving will go on the 23rd, I would also say that we should bring a dish from our own countries (like a pot luck) or your best/favourite dish, so that we can share, I am thinking I will bring some veggies or something like that. And very important, remember, if you are going shopping for food or anything, that you should do it latest by the 23rd as everything is going to be closed the 24th and 25th!

Hello, i'm Leïla and i will be visiting Copenhagen during the Christmas weekend. I'll be happy to share the Christmas eve with you, it seems to be such a cosmopolitan dinner! I read the messages but could'nt figure what is missing for the food: savoury, sweets, drinks ?

  20. Chiara Wolff

Copenhagen, Capital Region of Denmark, Denmark

    Hi Leila,
Me and the host Kirsten will be handling the dessert (a traditional Danish Christmas dessert), so if you have any savoury dishes from where you are, and would like to share, that’d be great :-) as for drinks, that is something people should bring if they want something, I think I will be bringing beer
