ABOUT ME

I am a student at the U of M Twin Cities and I study art and Spanish. I've focused on ceramics for my degree in art. I started by making pottery, and now I am making a sort of "cross-cultural" form of Day of the Dead sculpture. I love to speak Spanish as much as possible. The best outlets I've found for this are the hotel where I am a bellman, and a mostly Latino high school that I volunteer at called "El Colegio," where I tutor students and translate for teachers.

When I am not spending time with school related activities, I like to cook. My favorite thing to make is Peruvian food. I learned all about how to cook it from the maid in the home that I lived in when in Peru. I'm also really intrigued by going to the grocery store without a plan, and coming home without a recipe, and seeing what I can make. Cooking is more interesting this way, and I get to learn by making new discoveries!

I also like to go camping or backpacking when I have the chance. I have backpacked on the Santa Cruz trail in northern Peru, on the Ozark highlands trail in Missouri, and on the Superior hiking trail on the north shore of lake superior. My goal after graduating is to hike the entire 205 mile trail.

I also like to go to concerts. My favorite genre of live music is electronic because I love to dance to it! My favorite bands I've seen are Bassnectar, Galactic, Pnuma Trio and Frank Black. The best part of going to a concert for me is to be with my friends.
