Starting a new life by the moment
I'm a 43 years old gay Venezuelan living in Belgium. I am a language teacher, but in my free time I love to sing and cook (not that I do those things very well, but still love them).
I like a lot of reading and for the moment I am interested in storys realted to magic, witches, magicians, etc. I like cinema, music, TV sitcoms and shows (specially sci/fi, mystery and drama) as well, and am a second stuff hunter. I enjoy nights in... Night life? Maybe I should give it a try, at least once. Not really my thing, but count me in if you invite me to a book shop! Hmmm... how bore is that? LOL... It's just the way I am.
Some random facts:
I tend to spend more time in the shower than most people.
I am a shower singer (only when I'm at home).
I'm not a big talker.
I don't really know how to cook, but I love it! I can cook Venezuelan arepas (really easy with cornmeal), though.
I don't really know how to sing, but I still try my best (does anyone there has a guitar or a piano and know how to play it? Much better if with a glass of wine).
I've been told that sometimes, only sometimes, when I'm half asleep, I'm sleep talker, I do talking in a mixture of Spanish, English and dutch. Sometimes I sing too or laugh, but not out loud.
My English is not quite good yet, and my writing is much better than my speaking. I am currently learning Dutch.
Best situations for me to think and get creative: Taking a shower (hmmm... I'm beginning to understand why I spend so much time there), on the road (by bus) and walking.
Worst situation: in front of a keyboard (yeap! actually, these facts showed themselves to me earlier, when I was taking a shower).
There is much more :|

"Sweet sweet kisses so tender always will return to sender" (ABBA).
Also: "By giving away, I think you'll learn... you'll get love in return" (ABBA too... actually, the same song).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I will do my best to host any traveler in troubles in Mechelen. Not living in a mayor turistic city limite sometimes the opportunities of host couchsurfers.
I've couchsurfered in London, Edinburgh and Paris between 2008 and 2009, and made contact with some members in Venezuela, in Belgium and other countries. It's been great so far.
I can think of a thing or two: I like cooking, photography, cars (I haven't fixed any, how could I?, and I just owned an old Italian one some years ago, but that doesn't stop me from liking them).
I like watching houses and manors big time. I don't really understand why myself: there is something about the ceilings, walls, windows and doors... it's beautiful. The older the better!
I become a writer when somebody piss me off (well, I learned those words from TV) and when I feel comfortable with someone on line.
Ah! I like walking too.
Carrots are the best food ever! I love them raw with cheese. If you chew them well, in some point they taste a little like coconut. Haven't you noticed how carrots have a tender core that's really sweet?
Between May and June we have in the city I live in all the mango you can eat for free! It's like living in paradise!
Music, Movies, and Books
Music is the best thing ever!!! ABBA, Choral music, Olivia Newton-John, Classic (Beethoven, some stuffs of Verdi, Mozart's Requiem, Cherubini's both Requiems, Venezuelan choral music -popular and traditional- etc, I don't like Jazz). And others I will know in some point in the future.
Update: Righ now I am found on Sirusho's Qele qele (please, search for it in Youtube)
Films: The Wild (by Disney), Matrix, Grease (remember?), The Lord of the rings, 6 degrees of separation.
Television: Charmed, Heroes, Latin American Idol, Charmed, Desperate housewives, Star Trek: Enterprise, Charmed, American Idol, Lost, Charmed, Greys Anatomy, Star Trek: Enterprise, Star Trek: Enterprise and Charmed.
Books: Reading is the best thing ever too!!! The Lord of the rings, Linguistics related books, Memorias de Mama Blanca (Mama Blanca memoirs), Harry Potter, The little prince (Antoine de Saint-Exupery), Terry Pratcher books. A five books novel called The Earth's Children (by Jean Auel); I read the first three of them, now I hope to find the other two in London (Update: I did!). I just finished reading another one called "The lamplighter": the storyline is developed in Edinburgh. Wonderful book!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmmm... I happened to be thinking of it earlier this very day! But I will share it with you in person :"| if you think you are very open minded. (Update: it's been quite long since I wrote that).
In the other hand, when you think about how life was just 15 years ago, the only fact of me filling these boxes is pretty amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
Ohhhh!! I would love to teach Spanish to one person at the time, or maybe groups. Perhaps we could trade Spanish skill for cooking or singing skills! How wonderful would that be? But I would do it for free, for the joy of watching how someone becomes able to communicate in my language. Someone did it for my English, not long ago, and he didn't even noticed he was doing it!
