About Me

I'm currently and undergrad philosophy student at Bristol and a lot of my interests are related to that. I'm also really into music, live or otherwise, and Bristol's a great city for it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Started to do more travelling outside the UK now I'm a student and I'm loving it. I met someone in Prague this summer who recommended this site to me and I've been meaning to sign up since. It's such a great idea, I hope I get the chance to meet some of you!

Interests

As I mentioned above, I'm quite into my philosophy and my music but aside from that
I love walking, most of my family holidays having been spent climbing mountains in the Scottish highlands.
I'm an avid reader (although, regrettably I don't have the time to read as much fiction as I used to).
All that being said, I'm a fairly easy man to please: good company, good conversation and a good beer and I'll be more than satisfied.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music (there's a very, very long list of music I like so I'll just go with some stuff I've been listening to a lot recently): Nick Drake, Elliott Smith, Courtney Barnett, Sylvan Esso, The Weather Station, The National, Beirut, Barna Howard, Jackson C. Frank, Julie Doiron, Trust Fund, Paul Baribeau, Sun Kil Moon... (etc. etc.)

Movies: Anything by Wes Anderson, Zack Snyder, David Fincher, Christopher Nolan. Short Term Twelve gets a special mention as my favourite film.

Books: Neil Gaiman, Douglas Adams, Chuck Palahniuk, Paul Auster, Don DeLillo and Steven Pinker in non-fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Organised an undergraduate philosophy conference in Bristol this September with a couple of other undergraduates.

Teach, Learn, Share

Not entirely sure what goes in this box, but I spend a fair amount of my time talking about philosophy so if you're so inclined I'd be more than happy to do that with you!
As far as learning goes, whatever you've got would be great, I'd like to think I'm fairly curious about most things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've been very gradually building up my repertoire of meals I can cook, largely so I don't end up eating pot noodles every night.
Hopefully a decent chat about philosophy if you're interested.
Some music recommendations.
