ABOUT ME

Currently, my notion is for this coming trip to be a one-off kind of deal. I don't often find much occasion to travel, but I was recently given an opportunity to attend SXSW, even though I don't quite have the funds to afford it in any kind of traditional sense. I will have to arrive two days ahead of the festival, due to poor planning with plane tickets. After those two days, however, I have arrangements for another place to stay for the remainder of the festival.

I am employed as a music columnist, film critic and general freelancer for my town's local alt-weekly, the Weekly Volcano. Most of my time, when I'm not hanging out with friends, is spent voraciously picking up as much new information as possible. Sometimes I worry that learning a new thing will force an old thing out of my head, but it's something I've come to terms with.

When you first meet me, I will likely come off as shy. I tend to warm up to people in fairly short order, but it's only fair to let you know that I may appear standoffish at first. It's something that I'm working on, and I want to stress that it is absolutely no reflection on you or your hospitality. The very idea that someone would so openly let me into their home warms my heart.
