About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy my Muller Fruit Corners...

ABOUT ME

I'm Andrew Gray.

I'm 21 years old and currently live in a snazzy flat in the west end of Glasgow. I'll be moving out in June though.

I use the following words too much: snazzy, awesome, coolio, cool beans, amazing, superb and floccinoccinihilipilification.

I'm rather random sometimes. I'm doing this entire profile just off the top of my head.

I study history in Glasgow. I want to do a phD in industrial history then go into teaching in universities.

I'm majorly into popular culture. Movies, television, books and music, I absorb it all. I'll regularly baffle my friends with pop culture references they won't get.

I'm addicted to Muller Fruit Corners, however I am trying to shake the addiction as they are a far too expensive habit.

I follow the commandments of Scroobius Pip. This means I don't read NME, watch Hollyoaks, question Stephen Fry or spell the word 'phoenix' correctly.

I sell electrical appliances for Comet in Glasgow.

I do it well enough that I scrape by financially every month. That'll change once I move home though and have some spare cash again.

I love lazy park days and games of drunken frisbee. There's no better place in the world for this than Kelvingrove Park. The police there are awesome. "Look a bit of advice son, we know you're drinking and we don't mind, so in future don't make it so bloody obvious!" Police = legends.

I love my friends and family to bits. The peeps all know who they are so I don't need to list names. Especially since none of them are on CS so they'd never see it anyway.

I dislike awkward silences and psychology.

In my mind Sigmund Freud was nothing but a conman. He only published 12 case studies out of a total of about 100 he researched. Some he wrote he didn't even write as well!

I know the evils of credit cards and yet I still love mine to bits. It allows me to get things I wouldn't get otherwise and that's nice.

I'm not completely naive though.

I think that's enough for now. If you have any questions then don't hesistate to ask.

I now have to go and study.

Woo-bloody-hoo!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Haven't had any CS experiences yet. Have usually stayed in hostels but was told about CS when planning a trip to Manchester and finding all the hostels were fully booked. NIGHTMARE!!

Interests

I basically listed my major interests up there - popular culture. But I'll add some more in here. I love going to gigs all around the city and will occasionally have the money to go to some of the smaller venues in the city like the ABC, the Barfly or King Tut's. Not a fan of the SECC at all, no atmosphere, dodgy sound system and annoying staff.

Football is another passion. Never find the time to play any more, but still follow Rangers, although I'm always working at the weekends now so never get a chance to see them play live. Oh well, can't be helped I guess.

Also have a big interest in history. Study it and want to teach it. Trouble is I can't decide what era to concentrate on for my doctorate. Will be something to do with industry but not sure where or when. Also curse my uni daily that we don't study military history. I love all the old history such as the Carthaginians, Roman Empire etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm not too proud of this but it seems to fit in here so I'll admit to it. I visited the site of the Battle of Waterloo, climbed the 226 steps on the massive memorial hill, then got ill (thanks to the alcohol from the night before) and threw up on a national war monument.

Teach, Learn, Share

The Thebian's - the people of one of the ancient city states of Greece - had an elite group of soldiers within their army known as the Sacred Band. The Sacred Band was comprised of 75 homosexual couples. The thinking behind it by the Thebans being that the soldiers were more likely to fight harder and longer if their lover was on the field with them.
