About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Right now, my big job is mom, as I have two school-aged children.

ABOUT ME

My travel is limited until my children are older, so right now I'm "paying it forward" by helping other travelers until it's my turn to see more of the world. My husband travels internationally on a regular basis for his job, so I have second-hand knowledge of Germany, Korea, China, and Japan. We have a small farm with dairy goats, chickens, and dogs. I write for local magazines, and I'm working my first novel. Until this year, I was teaching reading/writing/literature.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm a Christian...I'm here to do what God calls me to do. Right now, that's working with teenagers, especially disabled ones. Don't worry, I won't shove my faith down your throat if you hang out with me or my couch. I like the idea of hosting travelers to help my kids (and myself) be less culturally ignorant.

Music, Movies, and Books

I pretty much love most music. I just finished reading "The Help" and I can't wait to see the movie. I'm a big fan of Tolkien and all things Star Wars, but I'm not such a fan that I dress up and go to conferences. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching my son go from a kid with two disabilities and a rock-bottom self esteem, to a teen with a sense of accomplishment and purpose is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. Contributing to that is the most amazing thing I've done.

Countries I’ve Visited

Ireland, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, Virgin Islands, U.S.

Countries I’ve Lived In
