About Me

Follow my intuition no matter what

Eclectic = Me.

I'm mexican and I worked as an Au Pair for the past 2 years in US. It wasn't the best job but I'm glad I did it since the travelling and people I've met along the way were more than worth it.

I was lucky enough to discover that traveling fulfills me completely. I truly like to try E V E R Y T H I N G and go E V E R Y W H E R E. The only setback is that I always travel on a budget but I still manage to do the things I want. Also I want to be Travel Writer so, of course, visiting places and meeting people mean the world to me.

Since Travelling is my love Literature is my mistress. I can't live without any of them. I like to read widely but I particularly enjoy fiction - specially if it's an old book! Also, I keep journals of everything and like to come up with short stories.

I love art, always have. I paint - oil, acrylic, watercolour - and draw - particularly pencil portraits. I usually come up with painting listening to music and somehow I find a way to relate it to my state of mind at the moment. It's liberating. But I must admit I don't do it as much as I used to.

Music plays an important part of my life. Currently, I'm trying to play the violin on my own; well, I took lessons for a few months over a year ago and learned the basics but I moved and haven't taken any more lessons. But I thoroughly enjoy it, even if it's an out of tune "Twinkle, twinkle, little star".

When going out at night, I usually prefer to go to a bar, pub or restaurant, sit and have some drinks and talk.

-----I trust my intuition no matter what-----

And since collecting quotes is my way of answering questions about life I'll share my favorites and the ones that have become live-by rules:

"People who want to be equal nee to add or substract. And I have never liked math"

"The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do"

"Vive tus suenos, no suenes tu vida" [a rough translation would be "live your dreams don't dream your life"]

I'm not so fond of poetry but there's one poem from Jorge Luis Borges titled "Instantes" that I alway keep in mind. If you're interested, you could probably find it translated online.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

Since I want to be entirely verified I gave a small but, hopefully, significant contribution =)
I assume that once I become more familiar with the site and community I'll be able to do something more useful.

Weeeell... None. However, I want to point out that I was an Au Pair fro 2 years meaning that I lived with host families therefore I definitely have experience in staying on somebody else's house.

I believe I already wrote it in the "All about me" [see above]

Music, Movies & Books

Here goes my list-
JKR, Anne Rice, Los Reyes Malditos/The Accursed Kings/Les Rois Maudits - Maurice Druon,
Music: Marilyn Manson, Death Cab For Cutie, and classical, Tchaikovsky.
Movies: American Beauty, Million Dollar Baby, Jean de Florette/Manon of the Spring, Meet Joe Black.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Probably the number one is becoming an Au Pair - not because I like the job but because it was the first time I left home... And I did it on my own and for an extended period of time - note that I had never been out of Mexico before...

I would also like to mention my trip to Fairbanks Alaska. Firstly, I had to live off 20 dollars a week for 3 months in order to afford it - horrible, expensive airfares. I took an all-day drive to the Arctic Circle and saw the Northern Lights. I met awesome locals and heard stories about their way our life. Everything was fascinating because I had never since such things. It all was completely different to the way of life I'm familiar to and I loved experiencing it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Oh... Mmm... I guess I could give some tips on painting and drawing. If somebody speaks spanish they can definitely practice it with me and I must say I'm a spelling freak so I can definitely help with that.
