About Me

I like adventures, traveling around and finding new ways to challenge myself, and listening to good music, live music is the best. I'd say curiosity and a good pair of hiking shoes are all you really need and if you have them, they will take you to some interesting places.
I am a college student in the United States, but if I could go to school and still travel around the world with my life in a backpack I would be the happiest.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think that places are much richer when you see them from the local perspective no matter where you are. I also enjoy getting to know new people and sharing stories and knowledge about the things we have done in life so staying with a host while traveling is ideal. I am couchsurfing because I want to have a more local experience, and because I want to learn some new things from the stories I hear.

Interests

I enjoy any kind of adventure really. I love running. In college I am on the track and field team and run the 400m, 800m, and relay races. But having grown up in Oregon, running for miles and miles in the forest is my favorite thing. I love to raft, swim, kayak ... pretty much I enjoy any kind of water sport. I like to hike and camp and backpack. Climbing mountains for a good sunrise is always fun.

Other than adventuring I love art. I love to paint, oil painting and watercolor are my favorites, but I also use acrylic once and a while. Drawing is good too, but dark room photography is the best. I also like getting messy in a ceramics studio throwing pots and sculpting with clay.

I also really enjoy kids. Teaching little kids is always an adventure worth taking in my opinion, because you'll end up learning more than you teach.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most music. I'm not a huge country, hip-hop, or loud screaming rock person, but there are always exceptions. But something with calmer more interesting instrumentals is always good. I like Chet Faker, Kygo, Elektrik People, Kid Cudi and many others.

For movies I don't watch too many, but I am always down to watch a good adventure thriller that makes you laugh.

And for books, I have to admit that I don't do much reading outside of school work, so I don't really have a favorite book. I would enjoy to sit and read some books so I could fill this out, but I can't say I have so I'll leave it at I like good books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Portland to Coast relay is always fun. It's where a bunch of friends get together in two vans and each person runs two 3-8 mile legs and your team runs from Portland to the Coast starting in the evening on a Friday and ending in the morning on Saturday on the beach thoroughly exhausted because you ran all night long and didn't really sleep. But it's worth it and always makes for good stories.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think teaching, learning, and sharing are what makes the world go round in the right direction. I think we need more of it all and I love doing each one of those things. Good all around.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share some good adventure stories. I can tell my host about good places to go in the Pacific North West, USA. I can teach them some art, some sewing, some fiber art making. I can teach some English. I can do some gardening and cooking. Making and eating food fresh from the dirt is always an enjoyable experience if you ask me. I can do a little fixing here and there, but in general I can help where it is needed.
