About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To graduate. Again and again and again.

ABOUT ME

You know those movies which begin with the narrator saying, "So-and-so was just an ordinary person, until one day ..." Those words pretty much sum up my life. I am an ordinary person and yet I always manage to end up having the craziest adventures with some of the most amazing people I have ever met.

I'm also a lifelong student. I'm waiting for my mother to win the lottery so I can just stay in school forever. I can't stress the value of a good education (especially in the liberal arts) and if anyone gets me started on school just expect me to keep talking and talking until I run out of breath. Yes, I'm a geek but it's who I am ... and I'm actually pretty okay with that.

Other facts about me worth knowing:
I am an only child.
I am left-handed.
I am a ginger.
I am really into college football.
I am waiting for the zombie apocalypse.

PHILOSOPHY

Do what you want to do, so long as it doesn't harm anyone else.
Be the person you are on the outside as well as the inside.
Do good things for other people, even if they don't deserve it. Especially if they don't deserve it.
Friends are the family you choose. Remember that.

To be honest, I'm only 22 years old; I have a lot of learning ahead of me. I'm pretty stoked about that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am interested in meeting new people in the places where I am at rather than having a place to stay; that being said, once I'm back home in Boulder after this summer (and get the okay from my roommate), that might change.

I love meeting new people. I love trying new things and I'm excited to give this a shot!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never actually couch-surfed, per se; my only relevant experiences have either been crashing on my friend's couches or moving to a new place where I don't really know anyone and learning from them and their life experiences.

Interests

Music. I spent probably half of my day listening to music, and my tastes are pretty eclectic (although my current faves are Sigur Ros and Shiny Toy Guns).

Movies. If it is considered "fantasy" then I probably own it and can quote 3/4 of it back to you if I need to. I love to escape reality every now and then.

I love to go out and DO things, whether it be meeting someone for drinks or trying new kinds of food or rallying for something I believe in. Sitting at home is pretty tiring after awhile; I'm happiest when my schedule is packed full of things to do.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Shiny Toy Guns, Sigur Ros, Beatles, Within Temptation, MUSE, Evanescence, Linkin Park, Christian Rock (which is strange considering I'm pretty agnostic) ... anything that has a beautiful melody and has strong lyrics wins in my book. Or string instruments. You can never go wrong with a violin.

Movies: I really only tend to watch things that have magical/mystical elements in them. If I want to watch something about the real world, I'll turn off my TV and go outside. Zombie films are always a good time though. ;)

Books: Whatever my professors are currently assigning me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've held President Eisenhower's underwear without even knowing it (I was cataloging items from his house in Gettysburg when my boss told me). Is it amazing? Probably not.

But I bet you $100 you don't know anyone else who has touched presidential boxers. ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm in East Lansing right now to learn an African language (Yoruba). I'm so eager to learn it; we need to remember that this world is a big place full of differences and work towards understanding those instead of trying to make it into one huge, homogenized culture where everyone thinks, acts, and does the exact same things.
