About Me

Hey there! I'm Alex, 24 years old guy born and raised in Poland. I was born in Radom, but for the last five years I've been studying/working in probably the most popular Polish city - Krakow. In the meantime, I've spent two semesters abroad: first, I went to the marvelous town of Brno in Czech Republic and last spring I lived in St. Louis, Missouri (USA). Currently I'm on another exchange in charming Nijmegen (the Netherlands).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because recently I've been traveling more and more and what I find the most amazing part of my travels is meeting new people. Being born and raised in a rather reclusive society, I've grown to understand the importance of openness in interpersonal relations. Five months spent in the United States even strengthened that view, since the "American way" of treating people turned out to be exactly what I'm looking for and what I've always wanted to see in the region of central Europe.
Now I want to be able to use the opportunity that couchsurfing gives to share my attitude and help people in accommodation-related needs, as I myself have sometimes been desperate for a place to live during my travels.

I enjoy cooking, music, video games and movies. The latter is more than plain interest - I've been working for one of the biggest Polish film festivals.
I'm also a maniac of general knowledge, trivia, especially history/politics-related!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a fan of rap music, although I don't consider myself a stereotypical rap-head for 2 reasons: first, I'm open to other genres and I don't think I can be considered an ignorant. And second, nowadays the genre has evolved to the extent that there are many rap sub-genres, so the rap I listen to is usually nothing like what you can hear on the radio.

I love crazy and wicked movies - David Lynch and Quentin Tarantino are probably my favorite directors. I have a great sentiment for old gangster movies too. My all time favorite is therefore "Scarface" with Mr. Pacino being my no. 1 actor.

As far as books are concerned I'm familiar with basic classics of American literature. On the daily basis I usually read thrillers and legal thrillers by authors such as J. Grisham or R. Ludlum. I'm no stranger to Stephen King's bibliography neither!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've befriended the actor playing Gimli the Dwarf in LotR!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy languages and wherever I am I'm trying to get the basic hold of a local language. I'm happy to exchange language skills with whoever is up for it!
