About Me

I'm currently taking a gap year before I go to university next year to do Journalism and English Literature. I am an avid reader and basketball player (despite being a very VERY small 153cm tall.) I have a typically British sense of humour (uh oh) but am very easy to get on with, once you get past the excessively sarcastic jokes. My favourite type of music is rock, for example Foo Fighters, You Me At Six, Arctic Monkeys, and so on. Although I do have other guilty pleasures (if my friends are reading this, I'm sorry) such as the Gorillaz or Jesse Glynn.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to be able to experience new countries and their cultures on a more personal level, without the touristy stigma. Unfortunately, due to my age, I don't have excessive amounts of money and so couch surfing seemed like the best way to go. I love meeting new people and so this seemed like a good way to both keep my wallet in check, but also to make some new (hopefully life long) friends.

Interests

Well, I didn't realise there was another box for this and so wrote about this in the first one, oops. I have a strong love for basketball that I began playing two years ago. I have been playing the guitar since the age of 6, however I am mostly self taught and so don't expect rock band material. But if you also play guitar, it would be cool to jam sometime. I enjoy reading, a lot. I also enjoy poetry, some of my favourite poets being Dylan Thomas or William Blake. Although don't worry, I wont be reciting poetry to you every two seconds. I love being in big groups of people and socialising. Deep conversations until 4am? Count me in. Chatting rubbish until 4am? Count me in even more.

Music, Movies, and Books

This is a difficult question, there's too many. Although once again I have mentioned some of these before but here we go again. My favourite music is rock, Foo Fighter, You Me At Six, Arctic Monkeys, Alt-j, Royal Blood and so on. However I enjoy listening to any music. My taste can range from Debussy to Louis Armstrong to the Gorillaz. I enjoy festivals and cultural music, so if there are any sort of gigs or festival or any music events in your area while I'm there, let me know! My favourite movies would probably include Fight Club, White Men Cant Jump and interstellar. But my all time favourites would have to be (prepare yourself) Dirty Dancing and Coyote Ugly. Typical girl, I know. Books is a very difficult one, I grew to love Wuthering Heights during my a levels although I don't know if I could handle reading it again. I also like 1984 by George Orwell, The Godfather by Mario Puzo, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and I'm currently reading The Sun Also Rises by Ernst Hemmingway. As I said earlier I also enjoy reading poetry, I would have to say my favourite poem at the moment (this is very liable to change) would be Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night by Dylan Thomas.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My incredible sense of humour and witty repartee. I'm joking of course. In all seriousness, I hope I can share some amazing memories and adventures with you. Even if it is just another day in the life for you, I hope that I can look back on my time spent there and say how much you completed the experience. I hope I can make it worth your time extending your hospitality to me, and can make a life long friend.
