CURRENT MISSION

I'm going to South Africa to do the fieldwork of my doctorate in social anthropology. I'm studying AIDS and family. My mission? Not just study, but try to help, in different ways, people who suffer with the desease.

ABOUT ME

Well, let me see...
I like, really like, to talk about everything. If someone likes silence, perhaps is not a good idea to ask something to me.... (Laughing)

No... I can be serious if I want, and have different interests. For example: I studied in my first undergraduate courses like politics, anthropology and sociology - and I received a degree for that. After that, I studied biotechnology - another degree. And, after that, economy - again a degree. You should say "Well, he never knew what he really want", but it's not true: all I studied was in my plains, and I like to think we need to know everything we can. Now, for example, I'm studying anthropology (now in a PhD programm), looking for the ways AIDS change the realities of the families.

I like to travel, to dance, to take photographs, and I think I am a good person to talk about life, about economy, politcs and other subjetcs. When I was 24 I had a experience as teacher in a federal university, in Brazil, and discovered that I like to exchange knowledge, experiences and discuss the ways we can change the reality.

PHILOSOPHY

We need, always, to learn more and more, and try to find ways to make your world a better place.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I can host people in South Africa - Johannesburg. I'll arrive in South Africa in October 7th, and probably after one month I will have my own apartment.

I certainly will ask for the people that want be hosting at my home for a moment to know about AIDS epidemic. Travel is a good way to know our world, but not just by landscapes our memories and experiences could be made: we can see, understand and fight against inequality and suffering around the world.
