To throughly enjoy what life has to offer. To explore. To meet like-minded, open-minded, creative friends all over the world. To experience music to its fullest extent.
I am a travel bug, yet very rooted in my Philadelphia world. I aim to live in the country someday, perhaps France, perhaps the Pacific Northwest in the mountains. I want to own a farm. I take up all opportunities to explore my surroundings, and have lived in Philadelphia for 10+ years, as well as grew up an hour away.
I love roadtrips, I own a soccer-mom van for touring. I love music and am incredibly inspired by everyone I love. Things keep holding me in Philadelphia, and it led me to met the most amazing man in the world. Sometimes we play music together too. And we have a great beagle.
I cram a lot of things into one day, and then am completely happy after many days of running around to just embrace being still (and by that I mean baking bread, muffins, brownies, you name it. I love to experiment with various gluten-free flours and make things taste like something special).
I think there's a lot of beautiful moments just waiting to be discovered. I think there's simplicity in a basic, kind gesture, like giving someone a smile or a wave in your neighborhood. Communities are built through openness and communication. It also helps to bake muffins. Most people like muffins.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have made some of the greatest friends from Couchsurfing. Most of which, I have had the fortunate opportunities to hang with again and again. I surf, I host, I travel with or get some coffee, show people 'round town. It's magical.
I have stayed in Vermont, Virginia, more more, and hosted folks from all over the world. One of my favorite gals stayed with my boyfriend and I from Ireland, then stayed with us again unexpectedly a few months later and we went camping at a friend's music festival, then met up again when she came back. Thank you, Couchsurfing! I also love introducing non-Couchsurfers to musician traveling friends and other good buds who can host each other, hang out and the like. It's sweet.
I am interested in expanding my creative boundaries by learning new things. I've become wholeheartedly interested in community gardening, and look forward to my next WWOOFing experience. My first was in Arundel, Maine by myself and I learned more about independence, farm life, and starting vegetables than I could in any course or book. (check out wwoof.org - all over the world)
I spend each day making music, either writing or performing, either solo or with my band(s). When I am not making music, I am hanging out in the park, running, biking, hiking (not in the city, but wherever possible), crafting (knitting, building), swimming (not in the city, either, I prefer lakes/ponds/ocean), volunteering at local farms. I am certified in holistic health counseling and use that knowledge to do research and build workshops with friends.
(If you've read this far, wow...)
I also love: abandoned buildings/structures, taking pictures with my crappy camera, pick-your-own farms, gardens, listening to music constantly, yoga, dance classes, meditation, house shows, small gatherings, late nights, early mornings, taking care of myself, eating local and organic foods, New England (strong desire to live there), and my ridiculously awesome family and friends whom I love unconditionally.
Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC: Currently spinning - Marvin Gaye, The Kinks, David Bowie, Built to Spill, and Billie Holiday.
BOOKS: I'm a big beat poet lover. Give me some Ferlinghetti, DiPrima, crazy Ginsberg, you name it. Mostly I read non-fiction books on holistic health, healing modalities, gardening, slow food movement, etc. I am also obsessed with recipe books, canning books, and homesteading.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiking in Stowe, VT on the most beautiful mountain and swam at Sterling Lake on the mountain covered in fog. Touring by myself for 1,500 miles. Touring with one of my closest buds for 2,200 miles.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share with you the amazing Philadelphia Music Scene. I will cook and bake for you. Show you our city's delicious restaurants made from great ingredients. Quaint cafes. Bars with local brews, gluten free beers and ciders! We can explore murals (Philly has a very involved mural arts program), abandoned buildings. I can give you a haircut. I also think we should probably go check out what is happening in all of the lovely Spring activities OUTDOORS. Plants everywhere, gardens, beautiful walks, etc!
