About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Fulfillin a travel promise to my undergraduate self. Secondary objective - to taste the REAL culture of anywhere I might find myself...
ABOUT ME
Open-minded, non-judging, fun-loving, VERY easy going guy with an uncanny ability not to be phased about things. Respectful, positive, honest, and likes to help people - these are qualities I am proud of and also look for in others. I like food, music, philosophical/thought-provoking conversation and anything new and/or interesting.
PHILOSOPHY
Be happy. Do what makes you happy! Don't hurt anyone in the process. Karma works, at least in theory, which is more than enough for me. And stop stressing - nothing is as terrible as you think.
Wow, that's all so profound.. mental note, work on a profound one-liner for when someone asks me my personal philosophy..
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
For the next couple of weeks I hope to play the crucial role of the backpacking bum crashing on your couch (bum being an affectionate term). Have trained or worked in the past as a chef, mechanic, cleaner, IT administrator, electrician, and builder so I like to think I'll be able to help out somehow! Have referred other couch surfers to my friends couches in Australia and will be doing my own hosting bit next year for sure!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Hmm... nothing organised through this site, but right now I'm crashing at a guy's house I met in Hawaii last year. Currently listening to his band rehearse and hoping they'll ask me to drum for them! Have instead been happy cooking every night as I'll never get sick of the child-like joy on the housemate's faces when they remember what a homecooked meal is like :)
Interests
Music. Food. Popular culture.. laughing. Ha! Stimulating the senses.. Talking to people, finding out about their lives. Learning new things.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Art-house but not too slow-moving - or the cinematography had want to be AMAZING. Classics, like Kuberick. Comedies, even hollywood schlock if funny. Books: sci fi, classics like Asimov or Arthur C Clarke, not so much into fantasy. If a book has more than one name I spelt phonetically and is still unpronouncable or a map at the front I'm out. Murder mysteries.
Music! Blues/roots to reggae/punk/ska, dnb n dubstep to electro, indie to classic rock. Most anything that wasn't TOO commercial from the 70's. Love swapping music and have brought a laptop with far too much on it..
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Most recently hiking and camping at (nearly) the top of the paintbrush divide in the grand tetons - we haven't got mountains where I come from so 4300m above sea level blew my mind. I was an extra in an Indonesia movie once - played several bad portugese guys, obviously not at once. Riding an old British motorbike into the Himalayas was cool. But there's something amazing to be seen an experienced every day, if you look hard enough!
