About Me

To become the world's greatest Pokemon master!!!

Greetings from Seattle! My name is Alyssa Trinh, and I am embarking on my first journey to Japan this summer on a University of Washington study abroad program. I have had a long interest in Japan’s culture, technology, animation, fashion trends, kawaii culture, and music and am very excited to finally be visiting Kyoto and Tokyo. I am in love with Pokemon, especially Dragonite, the band GazettE, shrimp tempura, and Dance Dance Revolution.

At my university, I hope to major in design and informatics because I love the combination of art and technology. The Japanese imagination has inspired me many times while creating projects for school. I love to draw (check out my deviantArt), create animations (check out my YouTube), and program in java, html, css, javascript, php, ajax, and more. I play the viola with a local symphony (let’s make music together!), I am also a big rocket/space nerd. :D I’m hoping to get even inspiration from my visit to Japan this summer (I’m on the plane to Osaka right now!).

I am very excited to meet new people and immerse myself in the Japanese environment. After my program ends, I will be looking for places to stay anywhere from Kyoto to Tokyo, and will cherish anyone who is willing to host me at their home for any amount of time. I will be in the Kyoto area after July 19th, and plan to head up to Tokyo some time before August 3rd when I leave for America again. I greatly look forward to meeting you! Thanks for your time!!

You only live once!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The performance of "All Tharp" by the Pacific Northwest Ballet really took my breath away. The last number had me breathless from start to finish!

I was in Kyoto today, and I saw a mother biking with a carrier for her child on the front. I've tried biking with a load, and it's very hard for me to balance, so I think that was a pretty amazing sight for me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been playing the viola for a little more than 10 years now, and can totally give a couple lessons. Unfortunately, I'm not travelling with my instrument right now, but I'm hoping to find a random instrument in Japan on my trip.

I have been drawing for a little while also. I enjoy picking up on new art forms. I am a self taught animator as well. Let's make art together!

I am a programmer in java. Last quarter, I tutored peers as a computer science tutor. I can teach you introductory programming if you're interested! If you like websites, I can also program in html, css, php, javascript, ajax, and JSON.

I can make model rockets and stomp rockets if you know where to get model rocket supplies. :D They're great fun, and can shoot pretty high depending on which motor you choose to get.

I play DDR, Pokemon, and a little Final Fantasy if you need someone to get some game on with.
