I'm getting my Masters in Philosophy, and I also teach philosophy at the university. So the answer is "yes"- if a tree fell in the forest and noone was there, it would still make a noise...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In January 2012 I was travelling via train from Innsbruck (Austria) to Vienna. We were stuck in a snow blizzard on the rails for 3 hours, and I wittnesed a big-ass tree crashing into the rails.
