I have been a member of CouchSurfing for over 7 years now (since 2011). I have nothing but positive things to say about this site. Although not really happy with the new updates, it is still a great way to travel and meet people.
To start this off, my name is Andres and I am from Colombia (born and raised). My family moved to the United States when I was a young kid, so I claim both Colombian and American citizenship. I am 26 years old (as of the time of posting this).
My long term goal is to visit at least 1 city in every single country around the globe. From the time of this post, I have visited well over 60 countries. My passion is to travel and to explore what life has to offer. I do consider myself an adrenaline junkie. From skydiving to scuba-diving to hiking/trekking. I have done it all.
I am currently based out of Bitburg Germany and my house is open for surfers. If you are traveling in my area, definitely drop me a line. I am very open minded and love to meet new people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Why I'm on Couchsurfing? That's actually a pretty good question. I found out about CouchSurfing back in 2011, got to admit that I was very hesitant and nervous about surfing at other people's houses. But when I had my first experience in Lima Peru, I was hooked. For me, CouchSurfing is more than free accommodations. It is a way to explore different cultures and a great way to make friends. Friends that i wouldn't make if I had travel the regular way. I believe that CouchSurfing can have a great impact on people's lives. It is a way to push people out of their comfort zone. It is a way to see the world through other people's eyes. I see myself using this site for the rest of my life, either by offering my house to other people, or surfing while I travel the world.
My main interest is to travel. I have the opportunity to do so at the moment and I will most definitely take advantage of that fact.
Nothing can be more rewarding than exploring the world and making friends along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books
My music taste is all over the place. I love Above and Beyond, London Grammar, Lady Gaga, and even some country music artists.
Any movies that portrays traveling in a positive light. Some that come to mind are The Way, Into the Wild, etc.
Sense8 and New Girl (both terminated #SadFace)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Living in Europe by myself. :D
Teach, Learn, Share
“Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things – air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky – all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.”
