About Me

I've lived over 20 years in Paris but I grew up in the UK. I have three daughters who are away in the summer so there is room in our flat. I like languages, books, cinema and most of all, people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

(i) There's room in my flat while my kids are away;
(ii) I'm curious to meet folk and help them enjoy this city (Paris is a beautiful place but can be temperamental with visitors - we Parisians need to do more to promote our city);
(iii) I like the idea of using social media to make the world flatter;
(iv) I'm trying to keep up with the young folk....

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: very eclectic, Schubert ('das Wandern its des Müllers Lust' is my fave), the Waterboys, the Jam, Bob Dylan, tamla motown, northern Soul, hmm, I could go on for hours, I am very interested in Taylor Swift too, not on account of her music but more in her business acumen.

Film: The big Lebowski by the Cohen bros (in fact most films by the Cohen bros, especially 'Oh brother where art thou'), Drowning by numbers by Peter Greenway, Walkabout by N Roeg, Mr Turner and Life is sweet by Mike Leigh, and loads more plus anything in German and so on and so forth

Books: my all time favourite is a 'Confederacy of Dunces' by John Kennedy O'Toole and I like 'The Shepherd's Life' by James Rebanks which I just finished..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I learnt French which would certainly amaze Mrs Bingham, my lovely French teacher from Horsell Secondary Modern....

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help with languages, getting to know Paris, getting around Paris, cheese, the French culture and France.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My 3 bedroom flat on the south side of Paris in a residential area, on the Paris metro lines. My knowledge go the city, the language and culture.
